Sometimes I wonder if God is trolling us with Michele Fiore. This lady should have been sent to prison ten times over and is not only out amongst the general public, but a member of the judiciary. She has escaped accountability in the most improbable ways over and over and over again. Imagine traveling back in time 15 years and telling someone, “In 2025, Donald Trump will be in his second term as President. Michele Fiore will have stolen $70,000.00 from a police memorial fund for plastic surgery and her daughters wedding, Trump will pardon her and nobody will care, there will be zero outrage and it will barely get a mention in the national press.” Not one soul on earth would believe you.
And yet here we are.

I just called the NVSC Clerk’s Office. The IT department is working to fix the stream. She said they would post the audio later, which suggests they don’t anticipate that the livestream will be made available.
Paesana here. I’m appalled by Fiore on three counts. First, she’s remarkably unintelligent. Second, she’s a grifter (plain and simple) though an inept, low-rent one (she associates with Donald Trump and ended up with a traffic-ticket judgeship in Pahrump, while Noam managed to pull in $200 million). Third, her taste is atrocious.
This is 12:31. I’m glad my comment set off the Sopranos quotes. To be clear, I’m a guido too, and I have to say Fiore is one of the most unsavory paesani in Nevada’s history (which is a competitive list to get on). No judgment of Paola though, get that bag.

NVSC just wrapped up. I predict they deny the writ, uphold the suspension and let the investigation proceed. I further predict that Fiore did not and will not return the $70k, that the retention of funds will be the basis of discipline, that Fiore will be removed, that the decision will be appealed and upheld.
I also predict that there is a good chance that Fiore, in some improbable way, remains on the bench because that’s just kind of how life unfolds for her.
There were some good arguments under NRS 1.440(2)(a) which talks about an extension of authority for the state bar for acts committed prior to taking the bench, but this doesn’t apply here because Fiore is not a licensed attorney.

What is it about people coming to Vegas and torturing birds? I’m thinking of the Berkeley Law students who went to jail for something similar about 10 years ago.
