That's not the only high-stakes legal battle pending:

Steven K. Dimopolous
v.
Bernini Inc. dba Bernini Platinum; Does
4/4/2022 A-22-850698-C Holthus

Contract. Defendants used cowhide leather instead of the agreed upon genuine crocodile leather when it created custom pieces for plaintiff.

How can one be "Legal Elite" without exotic leather products in the office.

Crocodile jacket and Crocodile duffel bag? $42k. Customized bowie knife? $250. Living out your Mick Dundee childhood fantasy? Priceless.

So many thoughts:
1. Good on Steve for fighting crocodile leather fraud.
2. Shame on Steve for ordering crocodile leather jacket.
3. Poor Paul having to file this.
4. Is this part an elaborate advertising ploy?

I cover my goo bazooka with armadillo leather condoms. Surely that makes me a Top 40 lawyer.

The Vannah v. Simon one from yesterday is an interesting one. So Simon signs up clients and allegedly has hourly fee agreement. Clients pay hourly fee agreement (up to about $550,000. Allegedly Simon sees case will be worth far more so he tells them that he is converting it to a contingency. Clients balk especially when Simon will not release the settlement monies that have been received. Simon asserts lien.
Clients hire Vannah who sues for conversion when the settlement monies are not paid.

Now Simon sues clients and Vannah for defamation, first for what was said in the pleadings (well that was protected) and later for comments allegedly made outside of the pleadings. Fascinating stuff.

So what happened? What was the result of Vannah v. Simon? Both are very good lawyers and law firms. It is always about the money isn't it. Maybe still pending since decision just came down.

Vannah filed Anti-SLAPP motion. Simon amended while Anti-SLAPP was pending. Crockett denied Anti-SLAPP because he said that the Amended Complaint cured the defects that would trigger Anti-SLAPP. Supremes said that was wrong because Crockett should have applied the original Complaint as against the Anti-SLAPP.

I get that the courthouse is having IT/internet connectivity issues, but if you can't start the 9:00 calendar by 9:40 then it's time to call it until next week. People have other things to do today.

I sat in a Blue Jeans waiting room at family court for close to 2 1/2 hours before my case was called – about two weeks ago.

I've been here since 9:00 waiting. Nothing is happening at all because the courthouse internet is down.
