Blog is dead. I'm sure there will be plenty of discussion about the Bundy jury, but for the love of the law, can journalists at least mention the name of the judge that sent the jury back to keep deliberating?!?
RJ did… Judge Navarro.
What happened to the Kishner/One Queensridge case that was supposed to tie up her courtroom for a year?
The Supreme Court stayed it due to a filing with the Court. Case No. 72085. Kishner has a status check in May A661825
Mitch Cobeaga passed away today. RIP Mitch!
Any details? Mitch was a good guy.
Mitch was one of those great Nevada attorneys that will be sorely missed. Never witnessed him treat opposing counsel badly. He treated himself badly at times which was very sad. Nonetheless a loss for our community on so many fronts.
Mitch was a good guy. He could disagree without being disagreeable, which is a lost art in this town. Always nice to younger lawyers, too.
Good bye Mitch, you were a good man.
To receive these kinds of anonymous comments on this blog is a true, genuine tribute. I did not now Mr. Cobeaga, but as a young attorney the man you all describe is someone I would like to aspire to be more like.
Mitch was great, this is sad news.
Brilliant trial attorney without the dickishness
One of my favorite human beings. So lucky to have worked for him.
A true gentleman in an occupation with so few.. RIP Mitch
Bundy trial update…. https://knpr.org/headline/2017-04/bundy-trial-update-two-found-guilty
2 Guilty. Jurors hopelessly deadlocked on the conspiracy charge.
now mistrial.
"But by midday, the jurors said they still were at an impasse, and a mistrial was declared. Navarro set a new trial date of June 26, which was initially supposed to be the start date for the second Bunkerville standoff trial against Bundy and some of his sons."
Do the other Bundy Defendants have no speedy trial rights that Navarro can just spike their trial date?
That will be the argument I'm sure. Perhaps they should drop the conspiracy charge before the re-trial. That's obviously a concept the jurors struggled with in terms of these relatively low-level defendants. Keep it simple next time.
Free Bundy!
Not sure I'd convict them …. I'm calling BS on the way the gov't handled it, atrocious on their part. Bundy's should have paid, but chasing down cattle with jeeps and busting up natural water wells, not to mention the protected tortoises the BLM may or may not have killed … a simple lien on the property would have sufficed. The gov't committed far more crimes than the Bundy's by having their cattle graze on gov't land.
