  • President Trump fired acting attorney general Sally Yates after she ordered the Department of Justice not to defend his immigration executive order. [Washington Post]
  • The Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection is accepting applications for two judicial seats in the Eighth Judicial District Court left vacant by the retirements of Judge David Barker and Judge Jessie Walsh. Cue the applications from our perennial candidates. This time, however, there’s a twist. “Applicants must apply for only one judicial department, may not switch departments after submission, and may no longer apply for both open judicial seats.” The application period ends at 5 p.m. on February 24, 2017. • The Adelson family is out of the possible Las Vegas Raiders/stadium deal–apparently the $1 rent proposal was a surprise to them too. Does this mean the end of Vegas’ NFL dreams? [TNI; RJ]

They take Applications and are going to do interviews, name finalists and appoint from those interviews.

I hope our good luck continues, and scumbags such as Friedberg do not apply. Dude sucks.

Problem is the job doesn't pay all that well from what I remember (120k or so?) and I think you serve at the pleasure of the district judges, so piss off the wrong personality over there and you're toast.

I think that's a good change re the application process. Helps to at least reduce some of the shenanigans.

Speaking of shenanigans I for one am hoping this taxpayer shaftjob a/k/a the Las Vegas Raiders is now dead for good.

It looks like it's dead. Thank goodness. This would have been a disaster for taxpayers. When the room tax fell short, we taxpayers would have been left holding the bag. Hopefully this whole thing just dies.

It's not going away completely in any event. Even if the Raiders don't come a smaller room tax is supposed to be used to finance a new stadium for UNLV (assuming UNLV can raise the remainder).

Let's hope that wannabee Gov Sisolak goes down with the stadium 🙂

So, 2:18, who would your choices be for governor then? (Sorry, this is quickly going off topic, but as they say, "you opened the door")

Hutchinson? hahaha. Laxalt? Another hahaha. And those are the only two Republicans who have any real name recognization right now in Nevada.

Sounds like Adelson is working in the background to push the Raiders off their $1 lease proposal. Get Goldman to back out if Adelson is involved, and now the Raiders have to negotiate with Adelson.

I agree…this is not over yet for Adelson. He has more moves in store.

Lord help you if you had a leak, and you have to wait 3 weeks to a month for a roofer to come out.
