Chattah's loss on the Writ is Case no. 85298. Her appellate case (which she also has no chance of winning) is Case no. 85302. Looks like she's sticking with Gilbert.

Chattah's candidacy is a perfect example of what's wrong with the GOP. I am sure there are more qualified, more intelligent, less extreme candidates on the right who didn't even bother running because of the current political environment. Now conservative voters are left with the choice of voting for a democrat or not voting for AG at all. That's not really a great choice. The GOP needs to do better or it's going to go the way of the dodo.
Her toughness is not at issue. Her choice to do appellate work is not at issue. Her intelligence may be, to the extent it informs her politics, her arguments, and her choice of counsel. To criticize the last three is not a personal attack, and is absolutely relevant to the discussion of her candidacy as AG.
I would be more than happy to focus on policy positions and qualifications. Her goals & policy positions (near as I can tell) involve auditing a fund that doesn't exist yet, pursuing corruption investigations against political enemies, refusing to defend constitutional state laws that were passed and "recalibrating" laws to fit her whims. I don't care how "tough" you think she is, these are not the goals of someone I want near the AG's office. It chaps my hide that I have to choose between Chattah and Aaron Ford, but Chattah has disqualified herself.
Have any of you ever litigated with or against Chattah? I have. And I cannot believe she thinks she should be in charge of the AG's office. Like I don't think she met a single deadline. She sent contract lawyers to take judges' beatings. She did not seem to comprehend the law she was trying to argue. She ignored meet and confer letters. It was nuts.
The Attorney General doesn't actually practice law. They oversee the bureaucracy that practices law. That's why it shouldn't matter whether the AG is a lawyer, or if she is, whether she is a good lawyer.
So she didn't tweet recently that one priority would be to "dismantle" AB236 and "recalibrate" the law to provide for things the law doesn't provide for, even though as AG her role would be defending the laws as they were enacted?
This is even aside from her latest accusation against the Republican SOS's office, claiming corruption simply because Chattah couldn't be bothered to learn election law before filing challenges.
If she wants to be a lawmaker, great. There is a seat in the State Assembly and Senate that she would qualify for. If she wants to be a judge, great. There were departments that were vacant that she could have run for. But she wants to be AG. And everything about her screams that there is no way she should be allowed in that door.
And, just to ensure that this doesn't devolve into a Republican vs. Others screaming match that might get THWACKED by our benevolent blawg overlord, let's take a look at the legal arguments she has advanced about why the Libertarian nominee shouldn't be on the ballot:
1. It might take away votes that might go to her. 2. It's the SOS's job to enforce candidate requirements. That's it. That's her compelling argument.
The response by the AG/SOS: 1. The statute says submit your challenges within 5 days of the closing of the candidate filing period. The SOS forwards the challenge to the AG, and the challenge is heard in court where it gets expedited. Th period for challenges passed 100+ days ago. 2. Another statute forbids changes to the ballot after the 4th Friday in July. That date passed before Chattah brought her challenge. So not only is Chattah's challenge untimely, the SOS is forbidden from providing the relief that is requested anyway. 3. You want us to spend money because you didn't bring a challenge timely? No. The SOS has an interest in candidates following the deadlines.
Losing because there are deadlines that you either didn't know about or that you ignored. Requesting relief that is statutorily unavailable. Not what I'm looking for in an AG.
"shake things up?" Chattah's MAGA overlord Trump is now suggesting there will be chaos if he is criminally indicted, which itself looks more and more likely. Regardless of where you stand politically, it is not time to shake anything up. It is time to lock everything down and prepare for the storm. Chattah's suggestion that Ford should be hanging from a F—crane grows more troubling by the day.
Chaos? I thought there were only such things as peaceful protests?

Off Topic – Anybody having problems getting a hearing date in Family Court? Master Calendar doesn't answer the phone. Motion for OSC filed a week ago, fees paid to reopen case together with the motion fee.
Yes. The clerk's office is changing things and screwing it up as per usual. Some departments will call them for you and light a fire, but some departments will tell you to call them yourself, which is an exercise in futility. Might be worth your sanity to just drive down there and talk to them at the window. It would probably be faster than waiting for them to answer the phone.
I filed a motion for an OSC mid-July and the clerk's Notice of Hearing came out 20 days later. Friends of mine have had it take 3-4 weeks to have a clerk's Notice of hearing issued. For me, if it's been a week I contact the JEA for the department and inquire about it. Some depts will tell you they don't control it, some will contact master calendar and magically the NOH comes out.
Thanks. I telephoned the judicial department, which gave me the Master Calendar phone number, and then said "good luck".

Off topic as well…
This may be a stupid question, but when do we need to take the extra step to file a Notice of Entry of Order? After every single Order is entered? Is there a Rule that discusses this?
I always filed a NOE after every single order in Family Law. Not really sure if that was the law but that's how I was taught and never had any problem.
There are rights triggered by the NOE and not by the entry of the order – specifically, you can't start collecting on a judgment without filing/serving an NOE.
Do it after every order. There are many places in our laws and the NRCP that run from "entry" of order. You don't want to deal with an annoying argument from the other side that some time limit never started because the order wasn't technically entered. It is a relic in the rules that we don't need anymore, but its still there.
This is a very basic question and suggests to me you are a brand new attorney that needs more supervision and/or you are practicing in an area in which you have no experience. Stay in your lane.
Decency and collegiality are a very basic component of professionalism in the practice of law. Your response suggests to me you have no sense of self awareness or empathy for colleagues, regardless of how long they have practiced. If others ask for help in the future, and your only response is to demean them, just be quite and stay in your lane, 7:40 PM.
9:09 wins post of the day. Hey 7:40, 2:45 was asking for help. You should be flattered and honored to use your experience and knowledge to assist younger and/or less experienced attorneys.
So, 7:40, please take a deep look inside yourself.

Word is Telles will be coming out with a press release on Friday declaring his innocence and claiming he was framed by powerful people who were out to get German. Mark Geragos is taking the case.
I heard Telles was heading out to his white Bronco and looking for the highway when the police came. I heard the lead detective used the word "dildo-head" when practicing for a play long ago.
I think a more powerful defense for Telles would be self-defense. He came to German’s house to confront him about his hack articles. Things got heated. German reached into his pocket and Telles thought he was pulling a gun and defended himself. He then panicked and decided not to report the incident.
@3:39p – "It was self-defense; I disguised myself like a landscaper and brought a knife with me just in case he tried to attack me or kill me." I don't do criminal law but if I was a juror and heard that, I'd call B.S.
I was walking the neighborhood trying to drum up business for my new landscaping company (I am soon to be unemployed). German attacked me yelling anti-immigrant hate language at me. His last words as I wrested his knife away from his hand was "Make America Great Again!" I was severely triggered. #notmyfault
This is Rob. I guess the presumption of innocence doesn't mean anything even to lawyers. If one good thing has come out of this, it's that I now know who my real friends are. The charges against me are false and when the truth comes out, which it will, the DA is going to lose his job. For those talking shit, I will remember.
Sorry to ask this question. How does Boyd produce so many lawyers who are criminals and or commit criminal acts. The place has produced more than its share of scoundrels. The list is quite long. And these folks are not just doing stupid stuff but hurting people even killing them.

Stop bashing Sigal. She is tough. She is smart. I don't agree with her politics, but I respect that she as a woman does appellate work. Not many of us
Her toughness is not at issue. Her choice to do appellate work is not at issue. Her intelligence may be, to the extent it informs her politics, her arguments, and her choice of counsel. OP here – 9:50 is on point. We should have better candidates, regardless of party.
Women don't do appellate work? Get a clue!
Learn how to read. I said there are not many of us. Jesus, you buy a clue
The present state of the AG race is the best argument for why we need to pass the ranked-choice voting initiative on the ballot this cycle.
I would vote for a gnat over AG Ford.
4:02 — Vote for Chattah, and your wish is granted.
I personally think that Sigal will kick ass as our AG. It's well past time to shake things up.
There is not a single indication that Sigal will "mean a complete diversion from the law and government as we know it".
Save your absolutes and hyperbole for your family court briefs.
There are however multiple indications that she will do a miles better job than our current AG resident tax cheat.
Have any of you ever litigated with or against Chattah? I have. And I cannot believe she thinks she should be in charge of the AG's office. Like I don't think she met a single deadline. @939
She sounds like she is a government lawyer already.
I had a brief matter with Chattah. Can confirm 9:39's representations.

I can confirm 1:53 is correct.

NRCP 58.

You're, um, kidding, right? And Geragos? Who's going to be his local counsel?
I heard Telles was heading out to his white Bronco and looking for the highway when the police came. I heard the lead detective used the word "dildo-head" when practicing for a play long ago.
This is the kind of rumor/shitpost I come here for. Any more details?
I don't know about details but every time I see Telles' shiny head I'm reminded to polish my dildo.
I think a more powerful defense for Telles would be self-defense. He came to German’s house to confront him about his hack articles. Things got heated. 3:49 how do you explain the disguise?
Does anyone know where OJ Simpson was on September 2?
OJ?
Where was his glove?

Boyd 2012 setting the world on fire
Telles was Boyd 2014.
Sorry to ask this question. How does Boyd produce so many lawyers who are criminals and or commit criminal acts. The place has produced more than its share of scoundrels. The list is quite long. And these folks are not just doing stupid stuff but hurting people even killing them.
I think Telles is the first murderer from Boyd, right? Are there others?
Rob, did someone smuggle a phone into you?
Recent visit logs indicate he has been meeting with Alexis Plunkett.
was the meeting in the backseat of a car?
