Hearing that in Judge Hardy’s calendar call this morning someone was able to take control of the zoom share screen and show porn. Anyone else hear this/

Sexually explicit content was on the screen for close to a minute and about 10 minutes after the first time, it happened again.

It was not a minute. It lasted less than 15 seconds. The second time was quicker than that.

I can imagine how that went. In hardy’s voice: “Ummmm… there are people… having sex…. there remain questions of fact…. still banging… ummm… okay now to my 9:00 am orgy, I mean calendar…”

They most likely targeted Hardy because you could not find a judge who would be pokier to address the big pink elephant in the room.

I doubt he was targeted. These Zoom bombings are usually done by kids who get a kick out of disrupting things. They don’t know one judge from another. But in all seriousness, we can’t have court proceedings interrupted like this.

The attackers hack the system and hijack it. This has happened in other public meetings and college classes.

This means the court didn’t buy the right version of zoom. That happened in Washoe and they switched fast.

In a 4-3 decision, the New York court determined that the original trial judge had made an error in allowing women to testify who were not part of the case.

‘We conclude that the trial court erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes,’ the decision read.

Harvey Weinstein’s New York rape and sexual assault convictions have been dramatically overturned after an appeals court ruled the judge made a ‘crucial’ error in his handling of the case. ‘It is an abuse of judicial discretion to permit untested allegations of nothing more than bad behavior that destroys a defendant’s character but sheds no light on their credibility as related to the criminal charges lodged against them.’

A new trial has been ordered which could see accusers take to the stand once again.

Weinstein, 72, was jailed in New York for the two attacks in 2006 and 2013

He is effectively serving close to a life sentence on the California charges. I don’t know if that conviction is still the subject of any appeals.

He is in such terrible shape physically you have to think that at 72 he’s only going to live for a couple of years in incarceration.

This is a wives tale. Half the population become workout warriors and cut their weight; half of the population become kings of the TV Room and double their weight. HW is not someone who is ever going to be doing pullups.

Re Weinstein – Except for liberalism, in its current version, nothing is as detrimental to society and individuals as presentism.

No such thing, really.

All politics these days is establishment and despite the outliers (the Squad and the Freedom Caucus) there is almost zero difference between D and R.

I don’t even understand this comment.

The worst thing is for society (except for liberals) is to judge Weinstein by modern standards for things he did in the distant past?

Seriously?

Seems like the concerted effort to interfere with the electoral process in key swing states is pretty detrimental to society. I laugh at the claims of “ELECTION INTERFERENCE” when the persons making those claims are the ones that were actively interfering in the election. See Georgia, Michigan and Arizona indictments. Anyone care to guess who “unindicted co-conspirator 1” in the Arizona indictment might be?

Before you start calling me a “woke libtard” I will state that I am a fiscally conservative, defense hawk, keep your filthy hands off my body and outta my bedroom, love your neighbor, law abiding, rule following, do the right thing, ex-military type of guy that has taken several oaths to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.

P.S. What the heck is “presentism”?

“Presentism” in simple language is using current values to evaluate past action. Much more complicated in academia but u know how they complicate everything haha

2:48 PM, did you just recently figure out that assaulting and coercing women into sex is a no-no? Is this the presentism that afflicts you?

Did your Dad never have a conversation with you about the appropriate way to treat women? Or did you just ignore it?

I love how you jump to personal insults. That aside, Weinstein is human garbage. But, until (not rape or assault) but essentially being a creep through the prism of 20 years is used to put you in prison, it’s probably difficult to understand. I bet most people are doing things today that in 20 years will be considered worthy of being used against them. Any sort of rational analysis of the past must include at least a little bitty bit of understanding the times.

I think there is an innate right and wrong and people know the difference between right and wrong. Currently, 20 years ago, 50 years ago, heck a 100 years ago raping/assaulting a woman was wrong. 200 years ago being a slave owner – racist was wrong. The ole, “but everyone was doing it” or “it was accepted at that time” is BS. Everyone wasn’t doing it, and people knew it was wrong. That being said, I do have an issue with being prosecuted for a rape/assault from 20+ years ago that was never reported.

It’s much more complicated than that. Rape is wrong any period or century. What is under debate – the gray areas. Rape is never accepted. The key is that there are ACCEPTED behaviors that become illegal.

So he is innocent of rape and assault?
2 convictions speak otherwise.

Do we think that NY will retry him? Was the conviction vacated for a new trial or straight up reversed?

This is disgusting. It could only be said by somebody who has probably SA’d women or children. Nobody who has been a victim or has loved a victim could ever think this.

SCOTUS
In responding to inquiry about the limits of Presidential acts and subsequent political prosecution, it was argued that there are layers of protection against such. These protections were argued to be: trust the integrity and honor of prosecutors; and, if that fails, then trust the judgment of a grand jury.
