Vegas Loop
I have never understood the Loop as viable mass transportation. It is only 4 people per vehicle. How many vehicles are in use, how many people can be transported in an hour? Seems like the Loop is more of a novelty item.
Who knows when or if for sure, but they talked about Tesla making 16-passenger vehicles which will help. Still doesn’t convince me that it is solving a problem.
The fact that it’s just normal cars driving instead of rail with large cars that can transport lots of people is so bizarre and silly.
It was an ad for Tesla and Musk.
And the Boring Company. Because safely digging under an existing city is complicated, challenging work.
And intended to lay the groundwork for the Hyperloop
There’s a great youtube video where the creator breaks down the math on this and proves what you are saying. There is no way for this to move as many people as the monorail did (and we can all agree that was a abject failure).
The whole thing is about his preparation for his Mars project. He does not care about mass transit in vegas.
He needed real world testing of his tunnel technology without having to buy the land. If it also served a purpose and gave him a bunch of publicity, I am sure he didn’t lose sleep over those side effects.
He’s not even planning on going to Mars anymore.
I like the monorail. There is plenty of room for improvement – starting with creating a free parking lot at Sahara and Paradise and then extending the monorail to the remote lot at the airport (where riders could change to shuttle buses, unless it’s somehow feasible to get to the airport itself). With the high cost of parking and traffic congestion getting to hotels on the Strip, the monorail is a nice alternative for going to casinos on the east side of the Strip. This would be especially nice during F1. The discount for locals is awesome.
I think a lot of people complain about the monorail without actually ever trying to use it.
Light rail down the center of the Strip would be a better option, but our politicians lack the courage to make it happen.
The Boring Company is just a vanity project for a bully billionaire who has no regard for the community, environment, or safety of the riders.
Monorail
Looks like the one that used to be at Disneyland Anaheim. Disney did away with theirs.
I hope Nevada’s CD2 has enjoyed its Republican representation, ’cause I promise you that’s going bye-bye.
Always a fun day when your client instructs you to appeal the Default Judgment in their favor because the Court thought it would be clever and deny certain claims.
How does the Nevada Supreme Court treat Notices of Appeal when the deadline is today and the EJDC E-Filing Website is down?
Not sure, but I would recommend sending an email to the 8th JD clerk, and the Nevada Supreme Court clerk, with the notice of appeal attached, and explain the problem with e-filing in the email.
I would do more than that, this is a jurisdictional deadline. I would drive down to the clerk’s office and file in person. Don’t chance it by hoping an email will protect you later. Also, not to sound preachy, but there’s no good reason to be waiting until the last day on a jurisdictional deadline. Big no no.
(1) No Clerk’s Office after 4 pm. (2) Many people wait until the deadline to see if the other side will file first to decide whether to file. (3) Many clients hmmm and hwwwww until the deadline to file. Best practices might be to file early but certainly not a pure no no.
” Many clients hmmm and hwwwww until the deadline to file.” Client control issue. “Client, you have 20 days, which is more than adequate, to shit or get off the pot.”
Would a postmark help? Meaning, does regular mail suffice if e-filing is down?
They used to have a stamp in the lobby that you could come in after hours and at least stamp it and drop it in the dropbox to show you filed it. I dont think that they have that any longer. Not an issue unless its a strict jurisdictional or statute of limitations issue like appeals are
