Is it just me, or…

Meanwhile… Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!  What’s everyone doing to celebrate?  Did you send your favorite judge/opposing attorney a valentine?

And, have you heard about Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer?  Apparently, he has a vacation house on the Caribbean island of Nevis.  Thats pretty cool, except for the fact that he and his family were robbed in their vacation home last week by an intruder armed with a machete.  That’s most definately not cool.  Luckily, no one was phisically hurt in the robbery.

What else is going on out there?

And so the inevitable line between editorial control of the Black Helicopter crowd and the free flowing forum of the frolicing fallacies reappears.

I generally think I'm a pretty smart dude, but I cannot make sense of those postings on the other thread. I guess I'm just not smart enough to understand the genius of that poster(s).

I'm really starting to dig our blogmaster's sense of humor. Or I'm just a little punchy this afternoon.

@4:07 – Yes I agree with you about @2:40 pm. For you Mr/Ms 4:05pm – I think it's that you are a little punchy today, yes peachy punchy. You see where that black helicopter is heading — You see that sign says Mt Charleston — Could be checking out how high the waves are rising and cresting over Mt Charleston because of the Tsunami that is coming right in the middle of the desert. I hear Batman and Robin are on the scene right now. And for you there @JD McNugent@2:37pm — You will never escape us. Glad you spoke up à Now the black helicopter has its sites set on you.

@02/14/12-@2:40 PM "I guess I'm just not smart enough to understand the genius of that poster(s)." — No, I don't think that's the point. Maybe you just don't get the politics of doing legal work in Clark County. Just a piece of professional advice: You need to understand the political workings of doing law in Clark County. DISCLAIMER: If and when this Tsunami hits Clark County, disregard the advice just given, won't work under new circumstances of purged judicial system.

Our editor could not resist baiting them with that photo. I see hawkeye dropped the moniker, sign off, and erratic ALLCAPS. They are always harbingers of the massive 'thing' that is just about to happen which never seems to happen. Aren't there blogs where like-minded conspiracy theorists can converse with each other and leave us alone?

The link below ranks Boyd as the #20 school for landing article III clerkships, and says 6.8% of its grads land Article III clerkships. That would mean that 9-10 Boyd grads land Article III clerkships per year. From my recollection I thought about 3-4 Boyd grads landed Article III clerkships per year. Maybe the school reported magistrate or bankruptcy clerkships as article III clerkships.

@February 14, 2012 8:01 PM Come back and meet me here in two weeks and let's see if you are singing the same song. Or is it possible that the desert heat has fried your brain to the point that you are so alienated from what is going on around you in your own profession? Desert heat, I'd bet on the desert heat reason.

I am not "February 14th at 8:01 pm" but I would take that bet and be happy to meet any Blogger on March 2nd, 2012 at 1:25 p.m. (that is 2 weeks) to see if the Mayan Apocalypse of the Legal Profession has truly come to pass because I suspect it will not and have only so many previous Nostradamuses' (is that the plural) failures upon which to lean.

I am aware that there are a litany of rumors and innuendoes, some of which have had short legs (Bloomfield, Quon) but most of which have been the mirage in the desert heat of which you speak, frying not brains but hypotheses, speculation and fictions.

March 2rd– 1 week away. Other than Bob and Will settling for more money that GNP of a number of nations, any signs of the legal apocalypse? Staring out the window at Mt. Charleston and its just sitting there….blue skies. No floods. No fire. No brimstone. no locusts. Crickets? Yes. Locusts and plagues on the legal community? No.

BUMP! It is March 1st and I am still staring at Mt. Charleston. Nothing brewing. Nothing coming over the hill. Temperature comfortable and certainly not brain-frying. Please tell me that our meeting post-2 weeks is going to yield something fruitful, that some cataclysm will come down in the next 24 hours so that we do dismiss these ambiguous portends of doom as just another gadfly.
