  • What better news that to start off a slow news day in July than Ikea announcing its first store in Las Vegas! Now we don’t have to drive four hours to get cheap furniture! [Fox5Vegas]
  • Here’s what’s happening on the crackdown on “document preparation services” aka potential UPL. [RJ]
  • Does anyone who attended the Annual Meeting have any news or gossip? The only info we’ve been provided so far is that next year’s Annual Meeting will be held in lovely…Seattle?

So I assume everyone else got the mass email from the media group on behalf of Eglet regarding the "retirement" of Wall from the firm.

The first two paragraphs basically sum it up:

Las Vegas, Nevada — July 14, 2014— The law firm Eglet Wall Christiansen wishes to announce the upcoming retirement of firm partner, Honorable David T. Wall (Ret.). "David Wall has been a tremendous friend and a fantastic partner these last four years," said Senior Partner Robert T. Eglet. "On a personal level I am sorrowful about his departure, but I am happy for him to be in a position to spend more time with his family and hopefully teach. From the beginning David let me know that there would be a time frame. He and his wife are both from the Midwest and they've said eventually they would like to return there."
Retiring from trial work is something David Wall says he has considered for some time. "It's 28 years I've been in the business," said Wall. "The number one reason for my decision is to spend more quality time with my family. In addition, I'll branch out into new endeavors like teaching at the law school and serving as a mediator." Still, the decision to leave Eglet Wall Christiansen is bittersweet for him. "There is no more talented group of lawyers and staff anywhere," he said. "The quality of their work is unparalleled. That's why I wanted to be a part of the firm in the first place. I've probably learned more than I've contributed."

Does it say that he has enough money to make it rain from PERS, and the wheelbarrow of cash that he earned from EWC?

His departure doesn't have any timing relationship to their big products liability trial loss in Judge Earley's courtroom recently?

Yeah, it was the typical BS conference to get your credits out of the way and meet the judges. That said, the weather was amazing!

Sooo glad that I missed the Annual Meeting. Did anybody from the blog show up for this. Newport Beach is nice especially in the middle of the summer. But the finger painting of the mural on civility just
killed me. What is next, the pro bono pottery making?

Not just fingerpainting for fun either. You had to make a $20 contribution to participate.

I'm picturing a weird Ghost-like moment with your favorite judge at the potter wheel – sensual and creepy all at the same time.
