Off topic, but my pet peeve of the month: Judges who state they are starting court at 9 am, but who never come close to starting at 9 am. Just admit it, court starts at 9:30 or 9:45. Quit wasting our time and just let us come when you are going to be there. Yes, Judge Herndon, I'm talking to you — though you are certainly not alone.
You're talking to 80% of the ego cases downtown. I cannot stand people who are late. Wake up earlier if you can't get through traffic or finish fucking your wife before you need to leave.
Family Court is no picnic for those that do not start on time. Rebecca Burton, Jennifer Elliott, Cheryl Moss, Vincent Ochoa…you know who you are. 9 am means 9 am!!!!
Family court is an unmitigated shithole.
Over in fed court, Judge Boulware takes the cake in terms of never being on time. I have NEVER seen him take the bench on time. He is always 15 to 30 minutes late. And it's even worse because as a federal judge he has no excuse for not taking the bench on time since he doesn't have the caseload that state court judges do.
Conversely, I am miffed when I walk into Kishner's court approximately 5-10 minutes before 9:00 to find her on the bench waiting for counsel to show up so she can call a case.
A judge is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to
Beam me up, Scotti. I mean Barney Rubbel.
Birds kind of freak me out, especially those loud black ones that hang out on the golf course. I think they're called grackles. And pigeons are just the most disgusting creatures that ever existed. They're basically flying rats.
Those black birds are gobblecocks, a well earned title. You should give it a try next time.
Another topic – word is Stephanie Barker resigned from the State Bar. Any news???
As in Judge Barker's wife? Maybe just retiring. She was a DA for decades.
Effective immediately???
Stephanie Barker is a bitch.
Yes she resigned effective immediately. Yes the Office of Bar Counsel is an intolerable place to work.
Anybody at OBC is a goon.
Janeen Isaacson is a good lawyer. Tough but good. Everyone else there is traffic ticket level competent. However when you have nuclear weapons behind you, you really do not need to be competent.
Apparently UNLV made the list of the top 50 hardest law schools to get into.

It's #50, and Florida International is #30. This is based on acceptance rates, which often says more about how many (and who) are applying than the quality of the student body. For a much better measure of which schools are actually "harder to get into," look at median LSAT scores.
At 11:39 AM, if you bothered to read the article instead of just posting the typical anti-Boyd response to a positive article about Boyd, you would have seen that median LSAT scores were taken into account.
"To determine the hardest law schools to get into, 24/7 Wall St. constructed an index using data from the American Bar Association. Half the index relied on a law school’s acceptance rate. The other half of the index consisted of the median LSAT score and median undergraduate GPA of those accepted to the school."
157 median LSAT…
You know what they say, figures don't lie but liars figure. I question some of these statistics which are compiled by voluntary submissions. No one would seriously question whether Harvard or Yale is so difficult to get accepted. A lot of these hardest schools to get into has to do with geography, applicant pool, and cost of tuition. Attended a state school back east. Got into NYU and Columbia before the state school. The tuition was a fraction of the others and graduated with no debt. Having said that, I can't explain UNLV. If everybody is so smart to get in there, then why is Dean of Boyd demanding that the bar exam be made easier. It has already been dumbed down for Boyd. Makes no sense seriously.
I went to Boyd because it was dirt cheap. Then, around 2008, Dean White decided that "peer" law schools were charging more, so Boyd should too. Tuition doubled, UNLV made bank from the law school, and White was rewarded with a position with the UNLV administration, while leaving the fallout (plummeting matriculations as admitted students chose a better school, leading to less-qualified waitlisted students being the butts in the seats, etc. – Yes, this means you, Boyd '13) to his successor. But as long as the money keeps rolling in, who really cares if the new attorneys are terrible, right?
Most recent disclosures show 665 applications 229 offers, 116 matriculations. The median LSAT is 157, and the 75th percentile is only a 159. In contrast, the 2011 ABA disclosures showed 1,381 apps, and 140 matriculations, with a 25th LSAT percentile of 157.
The only school on the list with fewer applicants is BYU, and they have much better stats.
11:49, I apologize. Only 75% of the data used to support the conclusion was irrelevant, not 100%.
reCAPTCHA, a saint's robe is not a "skirt," and a traffic cone is not a "street sign." Jesus, the robots have already won.
Got me some justice today at the RJC. Need my toothpick.
Snark, snark, snark. I don't know why I keep reading this blog. It used to have good information on it. I'm actually shocked that I didn't see someone make a comment today about the looks of a particular female judge or female attorney.
Speaking of cute judges….Scotti anyone?
Meh, it is what it is, a mix of bitterness, anger, jealousy, and trolling.
The blog runs hot and cold. When the articles are interesting they are discussed. When it's a junk news day you get junk discussion.
You want to make the blog better? Bring up good information. Start good topics. We aren't here to dance for you, monkey.
Making Boyd '12 proud. His real name isn't Brad Joseph, it's Brad Shipley. https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2017/07/31/chris-christie-confronts-fan-brad-joseph-cubs-brewers-game
Lowering the bar. https://www.reviewjournal.com/news/education/nevada-lowers-bar-for-state-legal-exam-as-passage-rate-skids/
I'm all for the UBE but has Boyd considered they're at fault?
Is there really a shortage of lawyers here? Make better lawyers and more will pass the bar.
