If you need a starter topic, apparently “Howard Awand is in the news” again, even though I can’t seem to find the story… Maybe someone will be kind enough to post a link?

We are starting to notice a pattern here Harry. It appears your church is a bit overrepresented. I'm just saying.
More cronyism Harry? Very obvious and very disgusting. Stern appears to be a little on the young and green side to qualify as a top candidate for a federal judgeship. Has he actualy practiced much law in the decade he has been out of law school? His biography is mighty thin.
Religious diversity? Are you serious? 1/3 of the bar is LDS, so of course there will be a lot of LDS judges. Good grief.
Stern has as strong of an academic resume as anyone in Nevada. He is also a good commercial litigator. And regardless of religious affiliation, I feel my cases are generally in better hands in federal than state court. Stern is young, but I think he is very intelligent, has practical experience in commercial law, and will be a good judge.
And was not in the Top 75 of the most qualified people for the job.
Please try to recall that Harry attempted to get his son appointed to the federal bench back in Bush II's first term. He even got the Republican senator at the time to nominate the son, only to have the president tell them to try again, he was not going to approve a legacy lifetime bench to Harry et al.
I don't doubt that this guy is smart and probably a good guy. He doesn't qualify (in years of experience) for the state district court bench, so why should he be considered for a lifetime appointment to the federal bench? Harry's last choice for lifetime appoint (Gloria Navarro), also young, got very mixed reviews by the ABA panel.
I have no particlaur issue with either Navarro or Stern, but neither is qualified at this point in their career to be a federal judge

Reality check. Isn't there a chasm between being licensed for 10 years and practicing for 10 years? Running Harry's office is hardly training ground for sitting as a federal judge.No doubt he is very bright but has he earned a lifetime appointment or does he even have enough legal experience? Could there exist a better qualified candidate instead of a crony hire/reward for being a loyal footsoldier?

I don't care about the rules. Common sense people. I want a judge with gray hair who has toiled in the trenchesw with the rest of us long enough to get his or her hands dirty. Don't care about the LDS thing – we all know they stick together. Reid is the problem, but the majority of the voters kept in office again. Love this town.
A majority of voters kept him in office only because Angle is batshit crazy. I don't agree with Harry's judicial picks, but if Angle had been elected and stayed in office long enough for a Republican President, I shudder to think of her picks for federal judge.
Angel would have appointed Candeleria…I assume Candelaria is a Tea Partier.
Ariel was only picked because he happens to be Rory Reid's best friend. They go way back.
