There are three openings on the bench in Clark County District Court departments 6, 9, and G. Applications are due by February 8, 2019. Pursuant to Commission Rules, applicants can only apply for one judicial opening and must indicate their choice on the application. Applicants cannot change departments once they have applied. 11:53 AM is certainly asserting evidence-free (and even, really, specific allegation-free). Not that they need it, but whoever runs this blog does a great job – well balanced, pretty current, easy to work with (I've sent stuff to them time-to-time and they're pleasantly responsive). 11:12 here. I don't fault anyone for failing to post stories from the Nevada Current. I go weeks without remembering that it exists. After last week's suicide debacle, I be hesitant to rely on the NC for much (I have this same issue with Ralston). I posted in the NC story because I found the link after trying to find out what happened with the charges. There's been plenty of time for testing the drugs, so I don't understand why a complaint has not been filed. Seems fishy to me.
Go to the NC now and read their Oops, we made a mistake story about how the new NRCP was going to result in evicting people in 5 days because of the change to calendar days over business days. laughable.

Why would anyone want a seat on the Court of Appeals? Unless you think that Hardesty, Gibbons, or Pickering will retire in the next few years, there is no reason to apply for this job.
If your ego is not huge, it is easy work– much easier than being a trial judge (you could even do it from the limo outside of your daughter's school). You do not have that pesky problem that people hate your guts face to face. You get to be a faceless killer. You are arguably above the District Court judges with much less hassle.
I think if you asked her personally, she would tell you it is a substantial step up. I also think she would give you a boatload of reasons to support that position that you might end up agreeing with.
Minor problem: the traffic commissioner, whoever they are, works directly for the Court Administrator and at the pleasure of the Municipal Court judges. S/he is an employee with strict marching orders. If there was mirthless bullying going on, check her supervision. My guess? S/he was between a rock and hard place and not happy with the job. I offer no opinion on her current spot but, having been in an uber-shitty job, sometimes another uber-shitty job seems like the only option.
We all have appeared in front of commissioners and quasi-judicial officers who are unnecessarily mirthless. She chose that job. The person who took the position after her has not been miserable and vindictive like she was. It is not an uber shitty job; frankly it was a cushy position. Her currently job is well suited to her personality of inflicting harm on others for sport.

The finalists for Court of Appeal are Commissioner Bonnie Bulla, Former Supreme Court Clerk Tracie Lindeman and Judge Jerry Wiese.
I was just wondering why you are calling Judge Wiese JAWS. Does it have a double meaning? Like both his initials followed by "S" and he's like Shark of a Judge?
After dropping the only one with judicial experience from the list, who would you select? Lindeman, the former NSC clerk, or Bonnie? I wouldn't mind losing Bonnie, but not when it means giving her expanded authority. It sucks that we lose a capable judge, since we have so few, but he's the clear choice.
