Congrats to Zach Conine as this cycle’s “defeat Danny Tarkanian in a race Republicans should win” champion.

2026 is not a cycle that Republicans will be favored in. Also (unfortunately) I don’t think Conine makes it out of the primary.

2026 is like 2014. No presidential and no US Senate, so Republicans will do better than expected. Cannizzaro will beat Conine in the primary and have a close race with Tarkanian.

I’ve know Zach since law school. He’s one of the hardest working humans I know. He has also taken an innovative approach to problems like affordable housing that no other politician – either party- has ever been able to solve.

The partisan and decidedly left horseshit on this blawg is getting unbearable. These kids need to stay in their lane.

If you are the original one who uses that stupid phrase, then you are Fiore. So we know why you think the blog is “decidedly left”

What exactly are you finding to be “decidedly left” on today’s Blog? The comment on Danny Tarkanian? I am a Republican; he is a terrible candidate who has lost statewide election after statewide election. But who else is an R who is going to want to run and who can win a statewide race?

The only political R who I could see (maybe) doing it is Jacob Reynolds but would you really want to give up a cushy DJ job to slog it out in competitive statewide elections? Sigal Chattah is not leaving the US Attorney to run for it. I think Michelle Fiore is disqualified because I think you have to be an actual attorney. We do not have any Brian Sandovals in the pipeline. We as a party have fostered and fomented idealogues and not actual political candidates. That is not lefty horseshit; that is political reality.

Don’t overlook the blonde female attorney contingent: April Becker, Tisha Black, the current and previous chapter chairs of the Nevada RNLA… I think any one of them would make a better candidate than Danny “Let’s try this office” Tarkanian.

Of course, we could also go in the opposite direction and see Joey Gilbert throw his hat in the ring.

Clark County Commission is far more powerful than an AG post. Becker would be foolish to give that up to run for AG.

To me, it looks like Jacob Reynolds finds his work as a District Court judge deeply satisfying. He’s also doing a great job, I love his use of tentative rulings. I don’t think he would give that up, or maybe I’m letting my hope that he *doesn’t* give it up bleed through. Our state and community get the most from him with him on the bench. Great human.

But there’s another dimension here that isn’t getting discussed. It used to be that the non-insane people controlled the Republican Party and the extremists accepted that they had to vote for nominees that weren’t quite strident/inflammatory enough. That changed in Nevada in 2014 and nationally in 2016. Now, the wackos pick the candidates and the Republicans with restraint and critical thinking skills are forced to accept those nominees. I don’t know April Becker well, but I do remember that she tried to campaign as the candidate of the crazies at one point (whether she is or not is an entirely different question). I don’t think Danny Tarkanian is a nutter, but he appears very willing to pander to them. The people being mentioned on this blog are generally not crazy. And that’s why they are probably not likely to be nominated, absent some kind of intervening force (Trump) or an Oscar worthy acting performance.

Reynolds should run as he is likely going to lose his election. He is getting an opponent that will be a strong female candidate and we know how that turns out. Reynolds is not horrible, but clearly biased. That is going to cost him as he is the number one target of the ambulance chasers

Voter preference for females will matter less in 2026 than 2020 because turnout will be lower (not a Presidential year). But you may be right that his gender might contribute to his defeat. Too bad.

Reynolds is one of the best on the bench (not saying much for the 8JD, but still). He’s competent and not crazy.

I hope he stays on the bench.

Say what you will, but Jacob is one of those people that genuinely cares. He would be a great AG, just as he is a great judge. we could use more people like him.

He’s not the Number 1. The NJA is going after Barisich too. They hate judges who follow the law and they love judges who let their frivolous cases survive by punting even clear questions of law to the jury.

That’s unfortunate because Barisich is excellent in probate. I love that she follows the rules, even when it’s a harsh result. Law is the law. She is also very organized and accommodating. One of our best. If the PI Bros go after her I will have to give extra to her campaign.

Man, I hope we get to keep Jacob on the bench. He’s really good people and he’s a good judge. Seems like he really cares about doing a good job there.

I don’t know who’s running against him, but if we lose him it’ll be a loss to the court and community.

I think the fanatical liberalism and vitriol spewed by far Left attorneys on this blog is tiring and so unbecoming. The “Orange man bad”/TDS mentality really shows a lack of credibility when y’all remained silent the prior four years when Biden clearly lacked capacity and stumbled and mumbled incoherently through his entire presidency. It’s one thing to disapprove of someone, but if all you did is slang insults and cannot objectively evaluate your own party’s prior candidate, you simply lack credibility. I find you annoying and tiresome and I wish you’d just STFU and disappear. Come to the table with more than a rant or a regurgitation of your favorite talking head on CNN/MSN or go spew this nonsense in your echo chamber. The blog has become so much less enjoyable as a result of blindly allegiant liberal partisanship. We get it, you’ve more than made your opinions clear ad nauseum. It’s clear no one is being won over to the opposing side. Let’s talk about interesting legal happenings in the community instead.

I read the complaint and expert affidavits re the woman who was discharged by Sunrise to die in the heat in a parking lot. Horrible. The place should be plowed under and the earth salted if that is how they are going to treat people. Case No.A-25-919809-C

Ugh that’s awful. I’m torn though as I had very serious surgery there and they were amazing (though that was many years ago)
