With primary ballots set to go in the mail today and early voting starting Saturday, it’s time to talk about some of the contested judicial primary races featured on that ballot. We welcome your comments on the qualifications of the candidates as well as any information you can offer to help voters make an educated decision. Just remember to keep your comments appropriate and defamation-free.
For JUSTICE OF THE PEACE LAS VEGAS TOWNSHIP DEPARTMENT 10, the candidates are:
- Noreen Demonte
- Cybill Dotson
- Vincent “Vinny” Ginn
- Mark Karris
My vote – Noreen Demonte
Who?
Noreen,I knew her as Nyokos or Cybill
I have been in Dotson's courtroom well after 10 on multiple occassions and she was still on the 8:30 calendar…
Sticking with Cybil. She will get it sooner or later and she is a sweetheart.
Wait seriously? We're seriously voting for someone as a JUDGE who "will get it sooner or later?" Come on. We all deserve better than that.
1049 here. Meaning and in response to 1033 and referring to calendar management. She is a great person, a sweetheart and will do a very good job in J.Ct.
3:28–In an ideal world we do deserve better than someone who will get it sooner or later. But since many never "get it" at all, getting it sooner or later works well enough for me.
Regardless of the incumbent's performance so far, I assume Dotson will hold the seat against three challengers all who appear, IMO, to lack much name-recognition, and who don't seem to have a great deal of political connections, resources or support.
I met Dotson recently and she was really, really kind and seemed to genuinely enjoy the position. She also appeared to have good experience. She has my vote!
Dodson seems to care about the position and seems to have a good reputation so I will likely vote for her
She seems to care about the defendants much more than the victims. No matter what happens she refuses to hold defendants accountable, even when they commit new crimes against the same victims.
I heartily disagree. Cybil, as I have said is compassionate and has a sweet caring disposition. Recognizing that Defendants have rights is not mutually exclusive to the rights of victims.
