FFS, how much more contentious can the issue of Ashley Prince’s children get? I’m sure our family court will straighten it all out.

Yeah that whole article is just vulgar. Let trauma continue. God knows that judge won’t lower the temperature.

All three of those children could use some family stability. The adults should realize that and stop trying to feed their own respective egos.

I’ve lived in four different states as an adult, and Las Vegas has, by far, the largest population of adults with stunted conflict resolution/interpersonal skills. In the midwest, this tragedy would have never happened. Even if it had, there would not be an ugly, post-mortem custody fight like this. Almost anywhere else in the country, the parties would come together in humility and collaboration to do what is best for that baby.

Probably because people on the east coast know their neighbors and are friendly to them. Here in Vegas it seems like people never introduce themselves to their neighbors. I’ve found that people on the east coast are generally friendlier too.

A lot of people move to Vegas because they *don’t* want to interact with their neighbors. Even if that’s not everyone, I feel like it suffuses the culture here.

It’s not just the vegas population. It is 100% the family court bench and bar. It is called the family court cabal for a reason. They are completely detached from reality. Judges who are friendly with and/or receive high donations from certain attorneys routinely rule in the most egregious fashion in favor for the clients of those attorneys. Example – a newly elected femAle judge has given unsupervised visitation to a father who raped the older child and is now a tier 3 sex offender. But dad has a well connected attorney who is most definitely a member of the cabal. ONJ has the video if you’d like proof. It’s not a one off either. It is routine in family court.

Yea, I hear you. I don’t practice Family Law, but my impression is that the case will continue in one form or another until one party can no longer pay the legal fees.

It is distressing that in the wake of such a tragedy, these family members cannot reach a consensus on what is in the best interests of the child, who one day will be old enough to understand what has happened. It sounds like the guardians are at least trying to do the right thing, even though they have no familial relationship.

Yes. Let’s talk about that. But what I’m really looking forward to is mom’s interview with ONJ where we will get to hear about dad’s poor bullied attorney being allowed to scream in court, disrupt depositions, call mom names in court, and accuse active duty step dad of magically dictating to the military where they send him for his next assignment. Oh and then we’ll get to hear about the two family court judges who strong armed mom into sending her daughter for visitation with a dad who had not seen her in years and who left her in the clutches of a rapist and who will not file a police report against his friend who raped his 12 year old daughter because “why ruin two lives.” I’m really anxious to see that interview. I’m sure the supreme court will be too. Just one more example of the family court cabal hard at work destroying children.

Don’t confuse divorce proceedings with violent, aggressive behavior toward other attorneys. Write off divorce if you want to, but the evidence of the interactions with attorneys is very believable from people who do NOT want to get involved.

Last week, I was visiting with the Court clerk and judge off the record after a hearing. I turn around and there’s opposing counsel and my client yelling at each other in the doorway to the court room. Good Lord. It was pathetic. The judge had to send the bailiff over, like an umpire clearing chest bumping baseball players. I would say I was shocked by OC, but I wasn’t. There is, unfortunately, more than one version of this person in the ranks of our profession.

Hear me out, tinder/bumble, but for attorney disputes. You swipe to match with your nemesis, and if matched, you both consent to a throw down. EDCR 2.34? Or, let’s see if you run your weak-chinned, bad beard covered mouth to me after you get some real comeuppance that Rule 37 just can’t provide?

Adding to the weak-chinned, bad beard, can we talk about those hips thrusts? Good god.

@4:39 here. I’m biologically a chick but I identify as pure, unadulterated rage. Fuck 2.34. If I had the option to fight, I would.

Great idea. I saw two male lawyers bickering recently and wondered if they were going to fight because it went a bit far. Both had a beard. Is that somehow relevant? Are the beard bros notorious shit starters? Is there beard psychology? Intrigued.

Low testosterone, weak chin, hiding an ever-fattening neck – all seem to check out for the growing movement of beardo (pronounced like “wierdo”) culture. If your jawline didn’t look like a melting waxwork why would you hide it?

Would love it if the NV judiciary took sex abuse seriously. Instead we’ve got a family court that gives custody to child rApists.

The AG’s office has used a lot of the statutory contingency account to hire outside counsel. An intrepid reporter may want to do a records request for those invoices and contacts.

They are already public. Fees are capped by statute for AG contingency cases. It is not rocket science since all resolutions are also public.

Not talking contingency contracts which have to also go to IFC. There are millions in hourly outside counsel contracts using the statutory contingency fund. Some with former DAGs for a lot more than they were making before.

But Eglet also represented the various counties in actions that were stayed. So the cap may not apply to portions of his fee.
