I respect Judge Michael Luttig a great deal. The fact that his letter (or the letter that his the first signatory) has not a single retired judge from Nevada signed on is a negative to giving it any weight.
The content speaks for itself. She is unhinged. The fact that no Nevada retired judges signed on is (a) sad or (b) an indication that no one asked them.
As someone who has litigated with her and against her and is a Republican, its her lawyering that renders her unqualified. I said the same thing about Frierson. Neither are qualified for this job. Dan Bogden was qualified. Greg Brower was qualified. Neither of the most recent two are or were qualified.
This letter reminds me of the letter from the 51 former intel officials saying the hunter laptop was Russian intel. Chattah is here to stay. Get used to it.
By “here to stay,” do you mean to suggest that when her new 210-day extension is up, the administration will simply continue to extend her tenure on a “temporary” basis without submitting her candidacy to the Senate for its consideration? And by “get used to it,” do you mean we should get used to such top-down circumvention of the federal confirmation process as a general matter and cast separation of powers by the wayside when it comes to similar executive branch appointments?
Well, when the government is doing patently illegal shit, the court should be able to tell them to knock that shit off, and not to try and pull that patently illegal shit with anyone else.
Don’t act like you gave a fuck about that before last month.

Here is an interesting conundrum.
-Nevada Supreme Court Senior Judge Calendar lists Judge Jerome Polaha hearing cases in 2nd Judicial District Court
– As noted here last week, Judge Polaha irrevocably resigned from the State Bar of Nevada.
So you have a sitting judge who is not eligible to practice law in this state.
In fairness, Jansen has been hearing cases in Vegas without a law license as a pro tem JP for decades (if not centuries), at least with Polaha you have a lawyer, even if resigned.
@3:28 looked it up and you’re right, honestly the scuttlebutt I always heard about it was that he was an FBI guy who got elected out in the rurals where you don’t need a license and has just been filling in as a pro tem since he lost his last election. Nope, licensed attorney for a time. Turns out he was also president of the county bar association at some point – trust but verify I suppose.
At the speed they move at, probably 12 years from now-just after they get to issuing a decision on an appeal from 2021.

Chattah’s quote about drug dealers answering instagram ads makes zero sense – “today you have drug dealers coming to your hotel room… so there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to interdict [drugs] at the airport.
How does one clause logically follow from the other in any way, shape or form?
To the person who keeps asking where “so-and-so 4th tier lawyer” is, the bar offers a “lookup” page. Attorneys are required to furnish their updated place of employment and/or address which the bar publishes in their online directory.
Could be CLE suspended. Could be dues suspended. Could be something else. Not a lot of details there, especially since it looks like he took down his address. But that does not answer the OP’s point which was asking presumably if anyone had heard from him and if he is OK.
Speaking of Sigal Chattah, the letter from more than 100 retired judges about her is a doozy. https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/trump-extends-sigal-chattahs-term-as-us-attorney-despite-opposition-from-nevada-senators

Your name calling and actual opposition to the appointment of Acting USA Chattah is antisemitic. . .
Or it’s antibadlawyer
Really, its just lawyer that you hate her politics. Be honest.
As someone who has litigated with her and against her and is a Republican, its her lawyering that renders her unqualified. I said the same thing about Frierson. Neither are qualified for this job. Dan Bogden was qualified. Greg Brower was qualified. Neither of the most recent two are or were qualified.
But she is politically qualified because she is unflinchingly loyal to Donald J. Trump.
I agree with his politics but have you ever practiced with Aaron Ford?
The absence of a Nevada retired judge is certainly notable. It could be that no one in the jurisdiction wanted to anger an interim US Attorney.
Not a single judge retired or otherwise from Nevada.
This letter is political nonsense. Plain and simple.

Imagine how bad of a candidate she must be that she could not get confirmed by this Senate.
Yes, because our senate is a bastion of ethical efficiency and never would play politics. . . . What a ridiculously naive take.
DOWN with the Uniparty!
I’m sure you are perfectly fine with the rogue judiciary issuing nationwide injunctions though.
Well, when the government is doing patently illegal shit, the court should be able to tell them to knock that shit off, and not to try and pull that patently illegal shit with anyone else.
LMAO “patently illegal”.
Cry harder sis.

You talking Bill Jansen, for JP in LV? He’s been licensed here for 50 years, is exempt active.

Wait until you hear about Michelin Fiore!
Well, give us the 411.
True. But that is a JP, not a District Court judge.
Don’t need a license to be JP in Nye County.
How long do you think it’ll take the NVSC to terminate Senior Judge status for Polaha? Before or after Polaha hears a few cases?
At the speed they move at, probably 12 years from now-just after they get to issuing a decision on an appeal from 2021.

You’re reaching. . . . .
She is laying the groundwork for getting drug-sniffing dogs their own Instagram accounts
Not buying Castor’s lawsuit. You’re welcome for this in depth analysis.
Agreed.
elaborate advertising ploy?
Has anyone heard from Mario Lovato lately? I had some cab cases with him but then he disappeared.
To the person who keeps asking where “so-and-so 4th tier lawyer” is, the bar offers a “lookup” page. Attorneys are required to furnish their updated place of employment and/or address which the bar publishes in their online directory.
I don’t know who Mario is, but the man is taking some serious stay bullets here! Go easy on Mario!
Unless it doesn’t. https://nvbar.org/for-the-public/find-a-lawyer/?usearch=lovato
It provides no info and say’s he’s suspended so presumably he’s not practicing. You’re welcome.

@5:56 here. You are right and I’m now embarrassed by my mean and cynical post above.
The OP does not ask “if he is OK” and that’s not how I (and apparently others) interpreted the OP.
He was also licensed in California and they’re showing he was suspended there for nonpayment of fees July 1st, 2025. https://apps.calbar.ca.gov/attorney/Licensee/Detail/222687
I spoke to him a few weeks ago. I don’t think he is practicing anymore.
