I really wish I could see the look on Stacey Augmon's face when he heard about Beard possibly leaving…

Am I the only person who doesn't give a thimblefull of rat spit who gets the big paycheck from the socialist subsidized athletic entertainment industry? If a private company wants to own an athletic team or even if someone wants to run a non-profit college team, go for it. But commercial athletics benefits from a tax subsidized farm system starting in primary school. Our education system from K through grad school has no business spending this money on entertainment. If it's supposedly for scholarships, put the tax dollars we blow on this towards that purpose. I'm a big fan of Fareed Zakaria, but I don't think CNN should get tax dollars to produce his show.

It sounds like he has pretty real ties to Lubbock. If he was successful at UNLV, he'd probably be looking to move back to Texas as soon as he could. I don't see any reason to think he'll stay at UNLV. Pretty embarrassing for the once mighty Rebels.

Thanks. I'm sure this will result in an immediate and thorough review by Nevada gaming regulators. 😉

Since 1991, UNLV has gone as far as the Sweet 16 exactly one time (2007). Let's stop thinking of UNLV as an elite program. It's been nearly a quarter century since Tarkanian.

I was driving on Maryland Pkwy yesterday and saw a campaign sign for Scott Holper for DISTRICT COURT JUDGE and nearly crashed my car. Yes, THAT Scott Holper. If there was ever a reason for a referendum on elected judges, that maniac's candidacy is it. And no, I'm not Mark Coburn.

He has a sign on Casino Center as well (on the fenced off lot with all the other signs). It said District Court.

What case and who was the lawyer? Sorry if I'm pulling my head out of the sand, but please provide more context, if you can.

Of course they gave her so much money – after the injury she was no longer "able to pursue her passion of driving a school bus because of her injuries."

I would love to be paid so I could no longer pursue my "passion" as a lawyer! It would be as if I died and went to heaven.

Imagine what she would have gotten had she hired "The Boys Are Back" team over at E&P at Tracy's Castle on 7th Street! Easily twice as much and probably a fat punitive award too! I got a tip a couple month's back from an E&P insider about "A15713356 Garcia v. Gurnis" Dept 9,involves Frias Trans, two taxicab companies, Clark County Bldg Dept with Dennis Prince for the plaintiff. Last week @ mixer informed by FC counsel of same case. Looks like a Battle of Titans shaping up! Hope it doesn't settle

@ 3:40 Just scoped out 15-713356 …"informed by FC counsel of same case" Are you referring to FennemoreCraig? Not listed as defense – Tim Geswein claims for Frias listed as defense and post discovery? Strange case looks great on paper for plaintiff. Wish I could build improvements to my office without permits. Cost me over $400 in permits and fees from licensed contractor to change water heater! I went to Boyd with Tim & Shemilly cant imagine how the wall is maintained with Tim's construction law background. Why in the hell would Frias-Union cab construct or maintain a wall so severely out of code? If Fennemore is involved for defense vs Dennis in Togliatti's courtroom… you're right it will be a battle of titans

Like anywhere, depends on their book. However, they work lots and lots of insurance-defense type hours.

What does "insurance-defense type hours" mean? Long hours/little pay?

That means you work 12 hour days and bill 16 for it, only to have those 16 hours cut to 10 by the insurance company.
