And A Cupola On Top

  • Law

It looks like dreams do come true! Chief Justice Hardesty and the Supreme Court of Nevada (along with the Court of Appeals) will be getting a brand new courthouse in downtown Las Vegas. Leaving their luxury suite on the top floor of the RJC will net them an additional 8,300 sq. ft. at a cost of $400,000 less over the next decade than what they would pay the County.

The new courthouse, which is expected to be completed by the end of next year, doesn’t come without a price though as it will be built on a parking lot at the corner of 4th and Clark. Chief Justice Hardesty said making sure there will still be adequate parking was a big concern that will be addressed. Hardesty also suggested that the soon-to-be-empty top floor of the RJC could become the new Complex Litigation Center for construction defects cases.

Here’s the write up:  RJ; City of Las Vegas tumblr.

What do you think?

Anything is better than the Stalinist blockhouse they have in Carson City.

That new building is hideous. It reminds me of this: http://germanhistorydocs.ghi-dc.org/sub_image.cfm?image_id=2086

The Ashley Madison leaks are about to get local. I just saw someone outed on a local political FB group. I suspect we'll see some known names emerge from all of this. The whole thing is sad and pathetic.

I'm not going to dox anyone here, but I ran a couple of personal email addresses for attorneys I would suspect would use that site and got a positive hit on one of them.

I would use caution in "outing" anyone whose email address alone gets a positive hit. Ashley Madison did not use any form of email verification to initially sign up, so you could literally make up a fake email address (or use an enemy's email address) to get in the front door. Outing someone as an adulterer just because their email address gets a positive hit could easily result in a lawsuit.

Now, if there is credit card info and an address….that's a different story.

Why would you want to out anyone? What business is it of yours what these people did without (or maybe with) their spouse's permission? I guess I just decided to spend more time having sex than worrying about with whom or how other people are having sex.

As far as private citizens go I'm in 100% agreement. Cheating spouses or not, it's private facts and, particularly in lieu of the fact that AM charges you to supposedly delete all of your information when you ask them to, the hack is an immoral and criminal act. That said, I'm ecstatic about the opportunity to see the hypocrisy exposed of religious and political figures who are so interested in legislating and lecturing morality.

Online cheating? How gauche. We live in Vegas. Choose your target, start flirting and then make the move. Almost all women and men like the idea that someone finds them attractive, but that doesn't mean they will succumb to your sexual overtures. The key is to take rejection with class and style. Not that I'd know as a one woman kind of man. But a friend who plays tells me that he that he still get tingles remembering the first time he hit on one of his wife's friends. She rejected him. A few years later, after she was married, she moved hard on him, but he liked her husband too much to take her up on it. He's since stopped mining his wife's friends and the usual mix of paralegals and young associates. He now prefers older women married to guys who are bigger assholes than him.

I think Trump would have built a luxury tower that would have been half condominiums and half court house, with underground spacious parking. The condos would have paid for the courts, and the citizens would have won. Trump. Today. Tomorrow. For America.

How is there enough room at that corner for a substantial building? That is not a big lot.
