What are the odds that the anonymous donor is MGM?
It would certainly make sense from a business perspective. Get this issue out of the news cycle now.
Why is the NYT leaking this story? No one local does any reporting any more?
The NYT reported on the problem with the guns after the Sun reported it back on Jan 8. The donor read the NYT article, and contacted the NYT reporter to get in touch with Alice Denton. Since the California-based donor read the Times, not the Sun, and contacted the NYT, not the Sun, it stands to reason that the NYT reporter would break the story.
So apparently the juror verification system is down tonight. Anybody have any ideas on how to verify if somebody actually has to show for jury duty?
