Go Bowtie! Fighting the Boulder City establishment!
Wow I am surprised that it took them this long to demote Myrhe. The only sad part was that he was not completely removed from the USAO. Hopefully they told him that he can keep this lesser position so long as he agrees to find some other job within six months. Honestly he is the poster child for everything that is wrong with the office and is the most flagrant violator there.
As to the story about the judge, it is clear to me that she, as a mother, is very sincere in her belief that these people are involving(or are attempting to involve) her teen daughter into prostitution, and that the judge is likewise very sincere in her belief that Metro. does not want to investigate the situation because some detectives owe favors to the pimps involved and/or some other unholy alliance, etc.
But it is likewise clear to me, at least based on how the story is reported, that the judge's private investigation into the matter, as well as all her highly inflammatory charges against Metro., the DA and others, seems to be based, at this time, on a lot of supposition, conjecture, conspiracy theories, etc.
She wanted the supposed pimps/sex traffickers investigated, but apparently Metro will not comply. She then concludes that is a result of corrupt metro. cops being investigated by the Feds.,including for conduct similar to, or connected to, what she believes is occurring in the matter involving her daughter.
If she is forced to conduct her own investigation because she feels Metro won't help her based on their own motivations ,and she is now fearful for her life(not from the pimps, but it is now law enforcement she fears), a key question is never asked of her.
That question is why has she not taken this matter to the proper federal agency that is supposedly investigating some rogue Metro cops? Since she believes Metro won't help her because they have their own interest in protecting rogue cops involved with protecting pimps and sex traffickers(by implication of some of the same criminals who are targeting her daughter), would not this federal agency or task force be delighted to be contacted by her and receive the info. that she has gathered?
Why is she trying to force Metro to help her if they are supposedly the agency contributing to this problem by their supposed coddling and protecting of the pimps and drug traffickers? In fact, she sees to go further than saying Metro is protecting these criminals. She pretty much says they are acting in concert with them. Then why keep trying to compel and urge them to help? She seems to be telling them to clean up their own house. Again, at this point why not go to the Federal agency that is supposedly cleaning house for Metro if Metro won't do it themselves?
To me, the article raises far more new questions, without adequately addressing any of the most obvious questions it intends to address. And whether they intended to or not, they painted her in a bad light. They, IMO, portray her as a mother who sincerely believes what she is asserting, but that what she asserts is a series of wild conspiracy theories augmented by personal paranoia.
I have no idea how legitimate her assertions are. I do know that the article did not portray her or her suspicious in a believable fashion, and they still did not ask her the obvious: why not go to the feds. if they are the ones who are targeting rogue, Metro cops who, based on their own financial and other motivations, are in thick with these criminals?
Ironically, I actually hope that the judge, as a concerned mother, has inadvertently amplifies these matters in her mind far beyond what is reflected in reality. In other words, I really pray that her daughter is safe. It's clear the mother believes the daughter is in danger but apparently she is still in consistent contact with her daughter, and, by implication, the daughter still resides at home.
One thing is clear. Much more inquiry is needed. Perhaps the judge's conspiracy theories and cover up theories are not really grounded in reality, but I can't be sure. When a youngster's life and safety is in sway, it's best to really err on the side of caution and aggressively seek answers and solutions. So I hope the media coverage really prompts something constructive.
Some attorneys are reporting that Bulla is now allowing IMEs to be audio recorded by the plaintiff. Anyone know if that is true? If so, anyone have any documents to support this one way or the other?
Yes that is true. You can thank Dr. Duke for lying on his reports that were only proven untrue by audio recordings clients took on their own accord.
Apparently Bulla believes NRCP 35 is likely to be revised to allow for recordings of IMEs
It's about time. I never understood the rule against the examined person (plaintiff) having a witness or recording the examination so long as it does not interfere with or obstruct the examination. It is the examined person's right to medical privacy that is protected and if they elect to waive that right they should have the ability/right to do so.
Does Bulla's position open the door to defense counsel being able to send a letter to plaintiff's counsel at the beginning of the case saying that defense counsel wants all examinations of the plaintiff by the plaintiff's medical experts or verbal communications between them to be audio recorded? Me thinks so.

To: 9:55. Folks I spoke to read and interpreted a lot of the story somewhat differently than you did, and believe that she comes across as more believable and grounded than you perceive her.
However, as to the main point you hammer on, we all share your concern. Since she no longer trusts Metro. to help her she is seeking help and guidance from pimps and prostitutes. Why not simply go to the FBI if they are already investigating some Metro officers for being entangled with pimps and prostitutes?
It is also agreed that many questions are left unanswered with many new questions raised.
Does this mean she has to recuse herself from cases involving metro?
As is all too often the case with "journalism" these days, the article leaves questions unanswered and leaves the reader with the impression that the author doesn't really understand what he or she is talking about. But that being said, she doesn't sound like a crank to me, and if this kind of a report is made to the police, particularly coming from someone in a position of credibility and authority, it needs to be fully investigated. Full stop.
RIP John Momot
No!!!!! Please, no.
Condolences to his family and colleagues.
