From the Nevada Supreme Court website: The Nevada Supreme Court was impacted by the global CrowdStrike issue. As a result, any Nevada Appellate Court filing originally due on Friday, July 19, 2024, will be granted an extension to today, Monday, July 22, 2024. Our dedicated technical team was able to recover within 24 hours, and all services have been restored. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
It’s not just the state. The City government is even worse. Entrenched long term employees who are mediocre at best but have the friends in the right places rule by fear and intimidation. It’s disgusting that public jobs and public employees are managed like this.
It’s one of the reasons the City Manager sent an email last week warning of repercussions from the Badlands debacle. That situation was mishandled from Day 1 and there will be zero accountability for any of the people who did it.
No different from the federal agencies. No accountability, no consequences.

Voter ID
Why is this an issues for some people? The only argument I have heard is that it is burdensome to obtain government issued ID, generally mentioning the poor and disabled.
Yet, you have to have ID to to obtain food stamps and other welfare, social security benefits, medicare/medicaid, drive, open a bank account, cash a check, buy a gun, obtain credit, etc etc.
You need to go volunteer for the veteran’s project through the AG’s office or help someone through legal aid. If you’ve lost everything, getting something as basic as an ID is a huge deal. It seems so simple for our perspective, but it’s not really. It can be very burdensome.
You’re out of your mind and defending racist stereotypes.
There are methods and programs that help the disenfranchised get IDs. FFS, recently released long tim inmates get time out of the halfway house and waived fees to get ID.
None of those other items are necessary for a democracy. Voting is supposed to be a check on government. If you can deny the right to vote you can eliminate your opposition or checks on your power.
No, it’s an opinion. In some municipalities, all residents do have the right to vote in the municipal elections, regardless of citizenship. If you want to restrict the above statement to federal elections, you should be aware that 3.2 million U.S. citizens on an island do not have the right to vote for President.
If the statement was “All U.S. citizens should have the right to vote in all federal elections,” you’d have my agreement. But that’s still aspirational.
David O’Connor was a 77 year old Navy veteran who had the bad idea to live in Tennessee. After holding a drivers license for 61 years and in 4 states, including a CDL, TN told him the documents he had (including his birth certificate from Canada showing both parents were US citizens) weren’t good enough to renew his license, and they cancelled it. He can’t get an ID from Tennessee. Tell me, how does Voter ID help him?
“Other forms of IDs” that the proposed Voter ID law rejects. The only acceptable forms are NV DL, government issued ID card (state, federal, or military), passport, Nevada CCW (requires ID to get), Tribal photo ID, or Nevada college ID.
Move to Nevada. Everyone can get an ID here.
But FYI
Acceptable forms of government-issued photo identification in Tennessee include12:
Tennessee driver’s license with your photo
United States Passport
Photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security
Tennessee Identification License (not valid for driving)
Other photo ID issued by Tennessee or U.S. government including U.S. military ID or TN handgun permit
If you’re a Tennessee resident without a driver’s license, you can apply for a Tennessee identification card through the Driver Services Division of the Department of Safety3.
@2:14
With regard to David O’Connor. Most birth certificate issues are because the applicant has the hospital issued birth certificate. What is needed is the birth certif from whatever is the official registrar in that province.
Mr. O’Conner, if he really is a Vet, will have discharged military ID, registration for VA benefits, a DD-214 and Social Security enrollment. If all paper work is lost, he can get copies. Something about your story does not ring true.
Finally, if you are a concerned attorney, maybe you should help him?
The population that struggles getting an ID is small, but the problem being solved is nonexistent, so weighing the pros and cons it still doesn’t make any sense.
The obvious solution is to enforce voter ID *and* affirmatively provide a uniform federal ID to everyone legally in the country. That is what they do in Europe, and that’s why no one complains about voter ID over there. But every time Democrats have proposed that obvious solution, Republicans have voted it down. That should tell you something about whether these burdens on voting are really motivated by alleged fears of voter fraud.
Show me a single instance in the last ten years where Democrats proposed this as a solution for Voting. Yes, the Republicans are going to oppose a National ID card. Because every time it is proposed it is mandatory.
IFIFY
Republicans, libertarians and anyone who doesn’t trust the government.
If the Feds want to issue a national ID, fine. Don’t mandate it.
Don’t be a dick, Dick.
The point is to find an extremely rare exception, then use that as the argument against a broad policy. If the issue with voter ID is some people have getting an ID, the solution is to make it more simple (not to not require a voter ID). Anyone who opposed voter ID to vote has ulterior motives.

if you are dealing with an elderly person who was born in another country and became a citizen in the distant past and they lost their citizenship papers and birth certificate (not uncommon with the elderly), it can be very challenging to get that person a new ID card.

Someone just told me that we do not have to file remote appearance notices for the EJDC anymore. Can anyone point me to the order or rule that did away with this requirement, if it in fact exists. Thanks in advance!
Hint: If you are in Department 31, you must file your ATEAR.

Traffic enforcement is pointless, it’s ineffective and what’s worse is that traffic engineers know it. Better roadway design is the only way to prevent traffic tragedies.
First!

Your opinion is based upon lies.
fuck the disenfranchised. If you dont pay taxes and own property, and cant get your ass to the ballot box on election day, then you are SOL.
FYI, Legal Aid requires applicants to have valid government identification to receive legal services.
Low income individuals have valid government identification because it is necessary to receive welfare benefits and IRS refunds.
You need ID to buy Advil Cold and Sinus.
None of those other items are necessary for a democracy. Voting is supposed to be a check on government. If you can deny the right to vote you can eliminate your opposition or checks on your power.
True. Which the very reason you want Voter ID. One person, One vote.
Well shit, there goes my opinion that only US Citizens should have the right to vote.
That’s not an opinion, that is a fact. But having ID =/= being a US citizen.
No, it’s an opinion. In some municipalities, all residents do have the right to vote in the municipal elections, regardless of citizenship. There are other forms of IDs. Also, I am certain that there are appeal rights and procedures. I do not accept your example.

You literally name other forms of IDs. Ya boy can figure it out. Stop pretending that there are no options.
>Also, I am certain that there are appeal rights and procedures.
That kinda proves the point my dude. People shouldn’t have to file appeals against the government just to be able to vote?
Horseshit.
On your theory, one person using 3 different names, could vote 3 times, because he/she is not required to identify his/her self at a polling location.
or 300
@8:12
Probably not. I think the Dems limit payments to 3 voting receipts per person.
Those appeal rights are going to do him a great amount of good standing at his polling place being told that he has been disenfranchised.
Fail to plan, plan to fail.

It took filing a federal lawsuit to get any movement.
https://www.newschannel5.com/news/newschannel-5-investigates/veteran-who-lost-drivers-license-because-tn-said-he-wasnt-a-u-s-citizen-gets-welcome-news-from-the-state
And his discharge paperwork said US citizen. Tennessee did not care.
Ohhhhhh. The left and their lies. Kind of like the coat hanger abortions.
“Discharged military ID” isn’t a thing. They actually take your ID away when you’re discharged.

And if there’s one thing Republicans hate, it’s having to have their information in a government database in order to exercise a fundamental right.

Riiiiight. Don’t mandate obtaining an ID.
Just mandate HAVING the ID to exercise basic rights. Cause that’s totes different.
Dont mandate the Federal ID for the masses, you obtuse MFR.
Not “the” ID, an ID. Dumbass.

Its up to each department as to what is required. Just check the department’s website; many list if it is required.
32 (or whatever) different sets of rules, subject to the whim of each Judge I guess.
Yup, welcome to doing Compromise of a Minor’s Claim. Roll the dice and hope you get a Judge that doesn’t make it harder than it has to be.

I won’t comment on the correctness of the matter as relayed to you, but I suspect it is a reference to ADKT 0581.
