Could the paper please stop running your voter guide every week? It is annoying. Your endorsements suck, too.
RJ– stop sending me ads telling me that you are endorsing Nadin Cutter. They are ads but look like you can be bought as a journalistic entity.
Nadin Cutter is hot!
These endorsements are insane. Today, I received 5 union endorsements with Bonnie Bulla at the top. I am voting for her opponent, turn off.
I think those are all Dave Thomas grouping candidates with common endorsements into what are candidate-paid flyers that look like they're union paid.
5:22 and 5:25 — All of these organizational endorsement mailers with multiple candidates are paid for by the candidates — but the point is the mailers accurately tell you in one fell swoop which candidates the organizations are endorsing. 5:22 — Don't be turned off. The reason Bulla, or Fumo appear on the top of the list of each mailer is because the candidates are listed by level of court and numerical order of department — appellate first, then district court. No big deal. Think of it this way, would you rather get 10 separate mailers from 10 separate candidates, or one mailer with all 10 on it? I'd rather get only one — gives me more useful information in one shot, and there's less to put into the recycling after I've gotten the message.
Do your homework and vote for the better-qualified person, not against someone because you think you're offended by a multi-candidate mailer. The candidates on the consolidated mailers are actually doing us all a favor.
Letitia is doing it for his candidates, too. And Bita Yeager, who's not using either Thomas or Letitia, has also jumped on the bandwagon. So what? I agree with 3:13 — more information and less to recycle.
The Bonnie Bulla and Ozzie Fumo multiple union endorsement flyers were a turn off to me as well, because all of they were all the same. So, I voted for their opponents.
Are we going to survive this election? It appears that our society and country will suffer, for different reasons, with either Trump or Biden winning. We have become so divided that we can longer have productive debate about the important issues. If your opinion on any issue differs from someone else, you are branded as evil and in need of being canceled or destroyed.
Maybe, maybe not. But who cares? Every great empire must fall and we have no control over whether it happens in our time or not.
"Who cares?" That attitude right there is part of the problem.
And it's not BOTH sides that are creating/sowing all this division – its the Republican side that instigates and starts problems, and then cries persecution when they are (rightly) immediately called on their bullshit.
Case in point: Jared's remarks today about black people. And when all the negative and mean commentary were thrown back at Jared (and by extension, the administration), they had the gall to argue that he had been misconstrued and/or misunderstood.
Self-defense doesn't work as a legal strategy for the person who initially started the fight (in most states). It shouldn't be allowed in this context either – when the Republicans start their race-baiting, immigrant-bashing, anti-Obamacare, [take your pick from one of their 20 other causes], their feet need to constantly be held to the fire because they can't justifiably pretend they're victims when the media backlash inevitably strikes back at them.
of course jared was right.
so you can stop virtue signalling; it wont work when you post anonymously
I have been trying to get through to Detr regarding my UI claim for days, and I have been calling for 4 hours straight today.
I have also contacted the following offices: governor, 2 U.S. senators, congresswoman, state senator and state assemblyman. I am getting nowhere. I just need a status and I have a question. This is madness!
I call 702 486-0350, listen to a bunch of useless info and then I am told to call back later.
Governor Sisolak's office said they would try to get back to me in 5 weeks regarding a UI DETR claim. Do any of these people want to get reelected?
David Jones is an excellent Judge.
Totally agree. Why would anyone choose to run against him? It makes no sense.
I agree, too. Signed, David Jones' Mother.
They also talk about a "call back feature" but never allow you access to it.
The DETR system is garbage. They need a feature whereby a claimant can actually ask a question and get a direct answer. That feature alone would eliminate much of their call center back log.
My state assemblyman sent my request to the legislative Counsel Bureau and it sent my questions to DETR. I still do not have an answer.
"All representatives are busy at this time," is the only answer I have received from DETR.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ABOUT HOW TO GET IN TOUCH WITH DETR? I am told everything goes through the governor's office but apparently the Legislative Counsel Bureau is also contacting DETR.
Vote all the jerks out. State, local and national offices. Amy Barrett was just confirmed, a life long band's maid. Democrats did not do shit to block it. The local politicians are corrupt.
Hey, maybe an Attorney General or counsel for the governor reads this blog and can address the DETR questions. Do you expect to get reelected?
Someone should file a district court writ of mandamus against the DETR – seek a TRO forcing them to take action. The right judge might go for it.
I am not sure if this is sarcastic or a reference to Judge Breslow.
Good job. Barbara Buckley waiting for pua benefits since July.
