I will be honest- I have made this mistake on ZOOM and telephonic hearings because the people who I speak with the most on the telephone are spouse and kids and that is how we end our calls. Doesn’t make it right but it does at least make it understandable to me how that could slip out.

If he was in “this lady who I respect is not going to acknowledge a single word I say, and I just need to shut off my brain and continue to say sorry” mode…I think ending the call with “I love you” is pure muscle memory. I get it.

One of my greatest fears in life is that I will slip up and end oral argument “In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”

I’m confused. Are you saying that it’s gross that 24% of law students can’t pass a basic exam that is several orders of magnitude easier than the bar exam that 100% of current lawyers had to pass? Or is it gross that 76% of students passed this easier exam when around 20% of them would likely not be able to pass that harder exam if they had to take it? And why use the word gross, i.e. disgusting or repulsive, rather than “sad” or “disgraceful?”

76% is really high. The last bar exam results were 56%, 62%, 46%, 65%, 49%. Granted this is a small portion of the bar exam, but still.

It is part of the liberal academic plan that our SC bought into to make the bar exam “inclusionary” by making sit o easy to pass that everyone can become a lawyer. The drafters for the next exam are working so that the bottom 24% will also pass.
Maybe NSB will eventually just require the applicant to send in three Wheaties box tops and a check to be admitted.

Lowering standards and cheering higher numbers is also the way CCSD operates. Good work everyone, congratulations!

No, they will take a piece of paper that says “Congrats you passed the Nevada Plan Bar Exam” and press copy then mail it to everyone. Actually, I heard the new Nevada Plan will not have a pass or fail list like the used to. This way they can not shame anyone. They will giving the FLE four times a year and then the P/Ts twice a year. There will be no pass/fail to list for everyone to see along with pass/fail rates. I heard this from the law school and the State Bar. What a doozie of a bar exam. This will definitely dumb down our profession. Cheaper a Nevada bar license which used to mean something. The real estate exam is more comprehensive than the bar exam. My goodness. On top of all this, they kept reforming the old legacy bar exam that only the dumbest most ignorant applicants failed to pass. The cut score was lowered. The grading was eased up. I have seen students who showed me their essays where they did not even fully answer the question and got passing scores. I kid you not. I hope I am wrong but I fear I am not.

Will not have a pass or fail list like they used to. (Correction). They will be giving the FLE four times a year. (Correction). Long comments are hard to edit and correct.

Congrats and sympathies for those that passed. They will always have a question about whether they measured up. Self doubt, could they have passed what was once one of the toughest bar rxams in the country?

and the one they just announced the results for (July 2026 – the last of the MBE/essay exams for NV) had a 50% pass rate. That is really low for a July administration, maybe the lowest ever.

As a former DAG, I will confirm that the furniture they had at Grant Sawyer was ancient. The new furniture and window coverings (for a new building mind you) were necessary. I cannot confirm they were of a quality befitting the cost however.

Kind of tied to the video from a certain judge about making a record:

https://acis.nvcourts.gov/portal/court/dc01122c-a19d-4eb7-bfe9-5b96e93c26fd/case/b55722dd-c904-4306-a152-26a845d91d78

“The district court [Egan Walker] shut down Carvalho’s argument three times, ultimately sanctioning defense counsel with a $500 fine and refusing to provide defense counsel with guidance about permissible argument. These reprimands chilled Carvalho’s argument that Regina was an alternative suspect, evidenced by the fact that defense counsel did not mention Regina for the rest of closing argument. Because the court’s admonishments effectively removed Carvalho’s primary theory of defense from the jury’s deliberation, we reverse the judgment of conviction and remand for a new trial.”

Complaint filed Monday. Its Friday at 6 pm. Summonses remain “Under Review”. Writs of Execution from September 2, 2026 remain “Under Review.” I know we just changed Clerks of Court but things are unacceptably slow.
