If you look closely, you may notice a few small changes to the blog. We ask that you be patient (and nice) as we work things out. As always, we welcome your input and suggestions. Also, we deny any allegations that the appearance of ad placeholders is in any way connected to the recent news about student loan collections restarting.
Yo dawg. The Ad Placeholders are, umm.. not working at the moment. In Mobile mode, they are big empty boxes at the top. Annoying, but you can scroll past. In Desktop mode, they make the site unusable because they are large rectangles squatting over three columns of content. The boxes don’t move even while the content behind it scrolls.
I have uBlock Orgin. If you are running Chrome, make sure that Google didn’t force shut-off Orgin as “not being supported.” (Google is being kind of an evil bastard about Origin.) You can still keep it and it runs just fine; you just have to double confirm to Chrome that yes, you want to keep it.
Orgin lets the ad boxes on here pop up for a second and then they disappear. I’d prefer to allow ads for Dawg, cause he/she needs to get that money to pay for the server costs, though.
Thank you. The truth is, we’ve run this blawg for free, for almost 15 years now. Believe it or not, it’s been an incredible amount of work, although we would still call it a labor of love.
Ads will make us some money, hopefully, but they will also allow local people and businesses to connect with this community. We could have just slapped some google AdWords on here if this was just a money grab, but that would have sucked for everyone.
Rather than that, we decided to try and support our local community and keep the ads relevant by letting locals advertise here.
Also, this process will also allow us to designate more time to this blawg in the futile, which should end up helping make this blawg even better. On that note, please keep a lookout for some new and exciting additions a few months down the road.
In conclusion, we get that change sucks. We also get that ads generally suck. With all that being said, we think this trade-off will be worth it in the long run.
Most importantly, thanks everyone for being loyal readers and commenters and for helping make this a real community.
I appreciate the time and effort that you put into this Blog. As this becomes a commercial space, I do have concerns regarding whether such activity will compromise the anonymity of the space as it is now a commercial enterprise.
Before you disparage folks you should probably get your facts right. The lawyer you are referring to parks a Rolls Royce, not a Bentley and drives a Lamborghini not a Corvette in a Batman costume. Jokes are only funny when you get the critical facts right…
Very distracting. Go back to whatever you were doing before. I don’t remember what was in those positions. That’s the point.

This is the only blog that matters to me. I confess that I look at it a few times every judicial day. Thanks for everything you do. You and Quickdraw and anyone else who puts time into it (other than we peanut gallery participants) deserves to be paid for their time.
Yeah, my sentiments too. Totally get the need for Ads, and having them on the sides is no problem. The one on top covers the page as you scroll, so if you were able to move it to be next to the “Login / Register / Advertise” links on the right at the top, that’s fine. But right now, the top one covers the daily page as you scroll and I’ve never seen that before. Presumably a simple fix that your webmaster can do.
Yeah I think they need to stop that one from moving. As you scroll down it blocks 25%+ of the comment space and makes it very hard to read the site. The ones on the side are fine and I wouldn’t have any issue with a banner ad at the top, or even putting ads in every 5 comments or so, but I’m worried about this current setup.
I could never understand why anyone would want an office there, especially if you live on the west side or NW like so many attorneys do. It’s so incredibly inconvenient. Years ago, when it still held prestige, I asked about this in a job interview. “It’s convenient for clients who fly in to the airport.” Nah, bro. They can schlep up to my office in Summerlin.
It isn’t convenient to anywhere, and I never understood why law firms had offices there, even when it was in its heyday.

One of the best feelings practicing law is to plan out a strategy at the beginning of litigation and then execute on it effectively, as planned. It doesn’t happen often, but I have a case right now that is near the end and it’s gone as I planned and hoped. What a great feeling.
Good for you. I love it when a plan comes together. It’s good for your confidence and reassures that you know what you’re doing (until the next thing comes along and everything goes sideways). But seriously, congrats. Enjoy the moment!

Adblock is your friend.
What do you recommend? uBlock origin isn’t doing it for me

I really appreciate that you guys spend a lot of time and money maintaining the blog for us.
I’m ok with ads to support that, I’d just ask that they’re not super intrusive and that they don’t ruin the user experience.
Thank you for the comments. This is a 2 way relationship and we are listening and learning through this process.
Is there a way we can reach out to you outside the blog to discuss these advertising opportunities? Can’t find good contact information for you.
Feel free to send us an email or buy an ad directly from this website in a few weeks when we get this process all situated.
What if Troy Fox and BK hottie buy ads? Would be amazing.
Who you people?
Boyd Class of ’13 already is buying an ad. Always ahead of the curve.

If we haven’t earned your trust over the last +15 years, I’m not sure what we could do now to change that.
Perhaps a Freudian slip.
“Also, this process will also allow us to designate more time to this blawg in the futile”
Law Dawg, Please, please no ads for a certain lawyer who parks a Bentley and drives a corvette in a batman costume.

YES!!! Thanks 1024. All fixed!

I am paid to look at it. Charging $600 an hour.
Touche.

What happened to the recent comments feature?
Yes, I miss that too.
We’ll see if we can bring that back and have it still work with the ads.

Everybody’s a website designer. Lol.
Okay, we heard you. The top ad is no longer sticky, so you can scroll past it. This was a good suggestion!
Just updated my resume: “Oversaw redesign of website with over 2 million site visits.”
2 million over the last two-ish years!
Further proof Howard Hughes Center is dying. Gordon Biersch already gone. Now Bahama Breeze is gone.
