I am voting no on No. 1 because I believe in Freedom over Servitude; and Merit over Quotas.

Agreed. This is already title 7 and Federal ERA codified. Nevada does not need yet another meaningless Ballot measure on what is already Federal Law. I am also uncomfortable with the this part of the language: "prohibits discrmination on the basis of any Nevadan’s GENDER IDENTITY OR EXPRESSION." All else if fine – but Gender Identity or Expression is so nebulous and murky as to make it virtually unenforceable and lacking in meaning.

I agree with 12:29 re: adding more bureaucracy and increased costs. Unfortunately, people will see the words "equality" and "equal rights" and vote yes without knowing anything more than that.

BQ 1: It does nothing that the federal ERA already does, except add another layer of state government bureaucracy with attendant costs. Let' not mirror California.

Fun fact: the federal ERA doesn't actually do anything because it's not a ratified amendment. If you're referring to Title VII, BQ1 does quite a bit more than Title VII does.

Like what, 12:37? I have zero desire to research for myself, but you sound like you already know. I'd love for you to enlightened us.

4:48 here, my comment sounds sarcastic. That was absolutely not my intention. I'll try to avoid using "enlighten" in the future.

I'm voting no on 1 because everyone already has equal rights.

Voting "No" on No. 1. Sounds more like a Superior Rights Amendment.

Stupid, stupid comments (re: German) by Leavitt in that RJ piece. What a complete lack of judgment

It's part of the problem with the elected judges. None of them want to cross the RJ for fear of how the RJ will retaliate next time they are up on the ballot.

They're stupid comments regardless of any purported fear of retaliation by the RJ. Why would you say (paraphrasing) "hey, you're not being fair about how you reported on me regarding those charges all those years ago. Look at what happened to German, you have to be fair." That is objectively dumb.

I am voting no on 1 but jeez the comments – servitude? quotas? "superior rights"? people who don't know the federal ERA was never ratified? It's like Thanksgiving dinner with *that* uncle.

Dear 6:24: Half these people aren't lawyers, half are not too bright, half are trolling and the other half are just fn around. That's a lot of halfs, huh? In other words, don't take it too seriously.

The article was painful to read and I think it is shameful to write about suicide in this context and claim it relates to "judicial temperament." Plenty in the article shows he should not hold office, but including the mental health struggles perpetuates stigma and piles on.

Bar Exam: Has anyone heard anything abou the bar exam. Know anyone who passed or who unfortunately failed? How did Boyd grads do this time around. Was thinking it had to be an easier exam because no MBE. Two days instead of 2.5. Even open book.

The continued dumbing down of the profession. Maybe next year all that is required is for you to fill out a form, pay a fee, and presto! you are a lawyer.

Given the reduced version of the test,, i was pretty surprised at the low passage rate. That being said, the two Associates at our firm did pass. I had been in state practice before and it had probably been about 6 years since I personally knew anyone with anything significant riding on the test.

~62% pass rate for the spring '22 Boyd grads.

It is really unbelievable the way law schools obsess about rankings from a "magazine" that isn't printed anymore and isn't even read by anybody online. Boyd pressured the bar to dumb down the exam because bar pass rates are a big factor in the US News "rankings". I am glad the new test moved the needle in the other direction, but I also resent that climbing the rankings is influencing our bar exam. Should not be this way.

62 per cent pass rate does not sound right 12:07 PM. Thought it was 72 per cent or higher. If that low, attribute it to everyone is a star student with a "B" average. Meanwhile they can't write which is a big part of lawyering. The law schools and Boyd in particular don't flunk anyone or wash out the poor students.

12:07 back, 12:22 is correct – I was slightly off (a few takers in other jurisdictions were accidently considered)… Based on what I know, it is ~69% (+/- 2ish percent) for the spring graduates taking the NV bar – so, first time takers only.

2:24-Pass rate/Boyd takers–We need to see the official statistics.and breakdown. The first thing is that the pass rate for the July '22 bar was not that low. There have been pass rates slightly above at 59 to 62 per cent. Wonder how many out of state attorneys took it. What was the Boyd first time taker pass rate? If anyone knows, please post. I know a repeater who passed. The elimination of the MBE helps those who got creamed on the MBE but can write a good essay. The performance test tends to favor attorneys admitted in other jurisdictions who are working in a busy office. The practice is like a performance test. The essays are like a law school exam.
