Happy belated women’s day. As a female attorney I strive to have as much confidence as my older male opposing counsel. Particularly those who can be so, so wrong yet and yet act so, so right. Bonus point to those who like to reference their years of practice and/or credentials as a substitute for a substantive response during oral argument. Amen.
The claim that “every day is men’s day” ignores a real problem. Social advantage in some areas does not mean men and boys do not struggle in serious, measurable ways. Men die by suicide at far higher rates than women in many countries. Boys often fall behind in school discipline, literacy, and graduation outcomes. Men make up a large share of workplace deaths, homelessness, addiction deaths, and untreated mental health crises. Those facts do not erase women’s struggles. But they do prove that men’s pain is real and deserves attention.
Uplifting men does not require diminishing women. A healthy society can do both. If we tell men and boys that their problems do not matter because they supposedly already have all the power, then we push more of them into silence, isolation, and shame. And if men are less likely to ask for help, then that silence can turn deadly.
The better position is simple: support should go where suffering exists. Men and boys need encouragement, mental health support, purpose, accountability, and compassion. Recognizing that need is not anti-woman. It is pro-human.
Here is a sharper version if you want something more forceful:
Saying “every day is men’s day” is a slogan, not an argument. If boys and men were doing fine, then suicide rates would not be so high, educational outcomes would not be slipping for many boys, and so many men would not be dying from addiction, homelessness, violence, and workplace danger. Privilege in one context does not cancel suffering in another. Men do not need mockery. Men need support. Uplifting men does not take anything away from women. It strengthens families, communities, and society.
Despite being a male attorney with multiple decades of practice, I do the cooking, dishes, laundry and I make the bed each morning. When is “Men’s Day”?
Sorry, best I can do is a golden star on your forehead, my special little boy. I’m so proud you made your bed today! Let’s call Grandma and tell her about it!
These are the guys who don’t care anymore (if they ever did), and should have retired 5 years ago, but either didn’t save enough money or their wives don’t want them around—so they’re relegated to annoying the rest of us.
Also, despite being 50% or more of law school graduating classes for many years, women are still underrepresented as equity partners in firms and general counsel in corporations. We have made some strides since the 1970s, but gender bias and barriers are still alive and well.
Also representation in firms in which equity partner is a measure. There are no equity partners in solo practices. There are also more women who take nonconventional paths through their careers.
Nevada is unique in its number of women judges. I assume that’s because judges are remunerated so poorly here; and until clients recognized the benefits of having a woman attorney in front of a woman Judge, old guys that phone it in will continue to be equity partners.
Yes please. The alternative is arguing the plain letter of the law before a judge who “doesn’t like to be corrected.” I’m sorry, but some motions are pretty cut and dried. Not much argument needed, don’t make me come in to spoonfeed you the same law that I wrote in my motion and you just don’t understand.
Noooooo, no no no. Many (and yes I do mean many) judges simply abdicated most of their responsibility and left it to their clerks. Some judges never even saw half the pleadings that came into their departments. They were totally fine with taking credit for that work of course. The sad reality is that some judges just want to robe and the power without the responsibility.

According to CNS report, new wrongful death case filed against Estate of Joseph Houston, Dylan Houston, etc. Anyone know the status of the other wrongful death case? I am surprised this one is so delayed in being filed

Why so angry?
You should smile more
So, when is men’s day?
You know, just to keep the scales balanced.
After all, I am sure you want gender equality.
Every day is men’s day my dude.
(Also, November 19)

thanks, chat.
When you start to do the dishes and laundry without being told, we’ll have a discussion about it.

I think you need to watch this music video and think about what you wrote: https://youtu.be/PS9Bc_GQBEs
Genius
Asking “when is men’s day” is a bit undercut by the fact that there is one already.
It’s November 19 and we’re going to take your man card for not knowing that.
Congrats. You’ve officially proved how a “great” man is just an average woman.
These are the guys who don’t care anymore (if they ever did), and should have retired 5 years ago, but either didn’t save enough money or their wives don’t want them around—so they’re relegated to annoying the rest of us.
So bitter. Let me guess, passed over for partnership, two divorces?
Wildly accurate..
None of this is a gender issue. It is an age issue, however.
11:11 AM-The overwhelming majority of judges are women. There are more women law grads from law school. Wake up this 2026 not the 1970s.
“Overwhelming majority”? Of what bench? According to the ABA, this is not true for the federal bench. https://www.americanbar.org/news/profile-legal-profession/judges/
Also, despite being 50% or more of law school graduating classes for many years, women are still underrepresented as equity partners in firms and general counsel in corporations. We have made some strides since the 1970s, but gender bias and barriers are still alive and well.
Percentage of law school graduating classes is not the right stat for this. You need percentage of actual working attorneys.

I see Sharron Angle is back.
She recently had a fundraiser at THE Red Lobster! I am devastated that I missed this event.
those cheese biscuits!
I was surprised to learn she never really left. Primaried Amodei in 2018 (lol) and couldn’t even win a primary for a state senate seat in 2024.
If you’re a judge and you do minute orders on motions that can be decided on the papers, +100 for you.

Except when it’s the law clerks drafting the minute orders and judges don’t even read the briefs. Except for when I win.
That happens so, so much more than people realize. Source: was one of those law clerks.
Former LC here and was not allowed to issue minute orders without review and approval from judge. I have to think that is the standard, at a minimum.

Filed by Judge Nancy Bernstein as natural mother of Jack Parker Prince. The shooting was April 8, 2024 for statute of limitations purposes.
I should have clarified. Richard Harris filed it on behalf of Bernstein (she did not file it herself).
