While more than $16 million has been raised, the fund would need over $560 million to compensate victims on a similar level as the victims of the Orlando Pulse shooting. [RJ]
Meanwhile, last night in Reno, a gunman was killed after firing shots from a high rise. [Las Vegas Sun]
Sexual harassment claims are often rejected by courts. [KNPR]
Come on. She reposted the link and raised $10,265 of which $10,000 came from Pat Clark. That means she really raised $265. I mean, good on Paola. But this is a news story?
Um, I am little surprised it is newsworthy, too. I do a lot of pro-bono work and donate more money that, and I do not get any media attention. This is with the caveat that good for her raising money.
I am tired of people trying to get their fame or publicity off of the shooting. The focus and attention should be on the victims. I am sure Ms. Armeni is not trying to do that. Sisolak and some of the other politicians have been doing that, and it is disgusting.
On the night of the shooting, the Sheriff would yield the stage
to politicians who came down to the scene of the tragedy.
But most of them spent more time mentioning their office and when they were due for re-election, than they spent discussing the tragedy. They would speak about themselves at some length, and then, almost as an afterthought, talk about how their heart bleeds for the victims and how much they supposedly care.
At least Sisolak offered something reasonably specific and hopefully somewhat constructive, that being the fund, but the rest of them didn't even offer the pretense of really doing anything for the victims. It was, pretty much, "I care what happened here, but back to the topic that is really important, that being everything concerning me and my narcissistic ass…"
On the pro bono front, I have little ones at home. I would volunteer more if there was day care, or we are allowed to bring our little one to the clinics, thoughts on this?

Concerning the fund to compensate victims of the Oct. 1 shooting, obviously the pecking order is to compensate the families of those killed, followed by survivors who were shot and suffer brain damage or paralysis.
Based on that, there may not be funds left for those who attended to concert but were not injured. If they believe their mental stress from the incident is severe enough to warrant compensation they can seek the proper treatment and evaluation and retain an attorney in the hope of eventually being compensated.
But one thing they can't do, if they truly expect to ever receive compensation, is to, decide they will not seek psych. treatment or evaluation and will not retain attorney, but instead will simply complain to the media, or at public meetings, about how unfair it is that they are not compensated.
There is one such women in the paper this morning. She was not injured. She has sought no psych. treatment or evaluation to determine mental harm from the incident, nor has she apparently consulted with or retained an attorney. Instead, her approach is that everyone simply take her word that she is traumatized and that she should receive substantial money from the fund, and, by implication, that her matter is comparable to those who were killed or permanently disabled.
I take her word that she was traumatized(I certainly would have been), but someone should tell her that her approach, even if she scored some media coverage for one day, will never result in any compensation. Never.

Bundys are going home. Sounds like the Government case is not going as advertised and Myrhe is blowing it again.
Good for Paola.

No such thing as bad publicity. I think Kramer (Michael Richards) said that. Or maybe Harvey Weinstein, or was it Matt Lauer?

Garrison Keillor said it.

Are the politicians themselves narcissistic, or is it only their asses that are narcissistic?
How about any other parts of their anatomy?
But, anyway, I hear what you're saying.
Paola is a BOG, and they suck. So, you finish the equation.
It is nice to see she got a plug for her law firm
I thought the same thing.
