The Telles trial was the peak, it’s all downhill from there

The LVMPD Police Foundation theft case has gotten a connection to the legal community now. Thomas Kovach was also the previous executive director of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation who was arrested for stealing around $350,000 from LVMPD. Kovach apparently was working as director of LVMPD Foundation and Project Real, the nonprofit started by Sam Lionel and Irwin Molasky to teach kids about the court system. I have both donated time and money to Project Real.

Apparently Kovach funneled the $350,000 out of the LVMPD Foundation and filtered it through Project Real and then paid himself a $182,000 salary. (Not sure that a salary is a nefarious thing but lets not that ruin some good gossip). “When Project REAL got large donations, Kovach kept most of the money for his salary, current Project REAL director Mike Kamer told police, according to the report. Kamer told police he used his savings to keep the organization afloat, but Kovach still paid donated funds to himself. Project REAL is $115,000 in debt, he said, according to Metro.”

Well that’s depressing as hell if it’s true. Make donating to charity difficult when the news is full of people like Kovach and Fiore.

I guess. It was not a shocking revelation that Fiore was grifting off the death of a police officer. People should have already known to be wary.

12.47 here. That’s true. I would never donate to anything associated with her. I was more just pointing out that stories like Fiore’s and Kovach’s make it hard to trust that your donation is going anywhere good.

Fair enough. Certainly a valid point.

Allegedly.
