Updated
These are more like “updates,” so I won’t try to pawn them off as “news”:
Former Reno attorney and partner with McDonald Carano Wilson, Miranda Du was confirmed as a U.S. District Judge by the U.S. Senate yesterday. Judge Du will be the first Asian Pacific American to serve on the federal bench in the Nevada.
Updates:
The LVRJ is reporting that State Senator Mike Schneider has called for the creation of a legislative committee to “better regulate homeowners associations” and meet with the FBI and federal authorities, specifically to address what “is happening out there” following the deaths of four people associated with the ongoing federal HOA investigation (including Nancy Quon and David Amesbury, both of whom were found dead last week).
The LVRJ is also reporting that Nevada Senator Dean Heller has decided to block Clark County Judge Elissa Cadish from proceeding with the confirmation process of becoming a U.S. District Judge, and refuses to provide a reason for his decision to do so. (Thanks for the tip, commenters!)

There was apparently some significant opposition to Du's confirmation based on a Federal case in which she was sanctioned.

Apparently Heller has decided to block Cadish's appointment but refuses to say why. Anyone know the deal?
The greater issue on Federal Appointments in Nevada is why Senator Heller is now opposing Judge Cadish but did not oppose Miranda Du (who has no judicial experience).
New article on the block

C.D. attorneys are dying at an alarming rate.
Wow – Navarro and Du pass and Cadish doesn't? Something's wrong with this picture.
Photos Gibson are very funny. It is nice to know that one can still smile during a work day. Thanks.
Heller's a right-wing hack douchebag.
Schneider has done some good w.r.t. HOAs, and he's also done some incredibly bad, but this is one of the stupidest.
Now that Righthaven is no longer a threat, I feel safe quoting from the LVRJ again…
"Schneider … wants the committee to develop homeowners association and construction defect legislation that would prevent 'further suicides.'"
Yes, a state senator wants to call a special session to pass laws that would prevent further suicides. Let's mull that over for a minute.
Rumor is that Cadish's opinion that there is no Constitutional right to bear arms (based on a 2008 statement) is the reason Heller is holding her nomination up.
I suppose that would extend to arming bears as well so clearly she is unfit for the federal bench.
I used to have some respect for Heller, but it is clear he is a tea party crazed wing nut.
Sun is reporting that it was related to a right to bear arms opinion.

Cadish is an amazing judge. Heller is a fool.
Birds of a feather moment. Crazy idiot and always unqualified political candidate Steve Sanson is now supporting Kathleen Vermillion. That is such a hoot. Viva Las Vegas.
Vermillion likewise discharged and is going after Fierro and replaced him with Sanson as a mouthpiece. Whackadoodle-Do
This is off topic, but does anyone know if Cadish leans more toward the plaintiff side or the defense side in civil cases?
Cadish is a liberal, so leans plaintiff. Wouldn't hurt for the U.S. Senate to have more Heller's — people who actually believe in and adhere to the Constitution. Novel idea, I know.
Cadish is fair and leans towards the law.
