Sort of makes you say hmm. I had never heard of this person before, until she was suddenly all over Instagram. I now know exactly one fact about her.

D-22-640357-N. Moved to Nevada in October of 2021, petitioned to change her name in early ’22. I guess that would explain why I have no earthly clue who this individual is. Carpetbagger.

Definitely moving her name up the alphabetical list on the ballot.

Las Vegas is full of carpetbaggers. I’ll bet the majority of lawyers here are carpetbaggers.

The majority of lawyers are elected officials? Seems dubious.

I was wondering because there is no person on the State Bar website under the name “Ava Bravo.” https://unicourt.com/case/nv-clad-in-the-matter-of-the-petition-for-change-of-name-by-karen-l-schatzle-petitioner-1003815

I guess someone did not like the fact that I posted the case number here. You can find it on Odyssey in about two minutes. Not like it is confidential information. Anyway, she has lived here for all of two years and now wants to be a judge. How about paying some dues first?

Don Chairez moved to Nevada from California, and was appointed a judge within four years.

She ran for judge in Orange County a few years ago against an incumbent who had been reprimanded, lost by double-digits, and then sued her former boss for $5 million. She has lived here since 2021. All of this information is findable in about two minutes, so I’m not sure why the censorship on this thread.

As an aside, she has not complied with CA Bar Rules to keep her address current or submit a name change.

If anyone would like to talk about my name Change please feel free to call me. There is no need to waste your time researching when you can go right to the source. I am also willing to sit down with you and answer any questions you may have. These back door conversations that are posted as anonymous is part of the problem that is plaguing this profession. As attorneys we ask people to keep an open mind and not rush to judgment. I believe that open and honest communication will help dismiss some of the speculation. I am happy to meet with anyone who is willing to contact me and reveal their anonymity. This is Ava Bravo and or Karen Schatzle. I am very proud of who I am and I have absolutely nothing to hide.

With all due respect, you are running for public office. You sent us correspondence first inviting us to scrutinize your record. You got the chance to address these issues which you very expensive election consultant should have warned you about. You have tweeted “Hey you all check me out at (website) and follow me here to learn more about my race for Justice of the Peace and learn a bit about what happens behind the scene on a Judicial race. All is not what it appears.” Would agree with you that all is not what it appears.

6 of which are definite bots or commercial businesses unrelated to the practice of law in Nevada.

The Robing Room is pretty popular in Washington State, especially for family court judges.

One judge in the bottom 10 for Clark is not at all surprising. I guessed that judge would rank low before even hitting the link. Comments are spot on. 🤣

For $217k they can’t even find someone who has a friggin’ license here? Instead just go ahead and hire someone from one of the stone-age states who is going to cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands in legal fees, penalties, and the like. Sure, no problem.

For a doctor, is this actually a good salary though for what is probably a bit of an undesirable job? Travelling through Lovelock, Indian Springs, Ely and having the administrative mess of a giant corrections department? It seems like a small family practice would make the same or similar without the whole going to prison every day thing.

I recently became licensed in CA (10+ years licensed in NV).

I don’t want any California lawyers/judges coming out here and actually enforcing procedural rules like they do in CA. It’s still the wild west out here!

I have known Joe since long before he was a JP. He is not only good people, he is a great JP. Find me someone who disagrees and I will point you to a person that either sucks as a practitioner, has unrealistic expectations for his clients, or is a Dbag.

Just saying.

I have known joe for about 28 years. Mediocre to below average lawyer. Average judge. Big on taking care of his buddies. His buddies think he is wonderful. Others, not so much. No big deal if he loses

EJDC should publish preempt numbers. That would be the actual information to help voters know how bad certain judges suck, not some disgruntled litigant’s online complaint.

They track the numbers internally but would never share that info with us. Just another example of the EJDC withholding public information.

I would. I’d 100% use that in my case evaluations to my clients and in deciding whether or not to perempt.

What we really need is perempt numbers by party. If a plaintiff is perempting a judge, I assume it’s because that judge follows the law.
