The rental company might be 100% right on the facts, but man, suing the estate of a guy who died to try to get your helicopter money back is a tough look.
@12:47 I have it on good authority a local attorney was already retained by the family to bring claims on their behalf against the helicopter rental/maintenance company and (in true plaintiff's attorney fashion) every legal entity within a 50 mile radius. Probably their attorney that tipped off the RJ to turn the tide of public perception in his favor. Anyway as a licensed pilot who operated multiple aviation related businesses, the decedent likely had a separate insurance policy that the plaintiffs are going after so it likely won't come out of the estate proceeds. I'd expect that Plaintiffs' estate may counterclaim for wrongful death (if they didn't settle already) and they'll both walk away with each other's policy limits.

"The Hammer" is based on Judge Wanker in Nye County.
Judge Wanker is a terrible judge. I love that Reba is playing her in a lifetime movie. This kind of stuff is why practicing in Nevada is such a hoot. Will definitely watch.
In the film a suspect in the murder of another judge is the sister of the fictitious judge Wanker. And the screenwriters saw no conflict and did not realize Wanker would have the recuse herself?
Am I the only one confused why Sean Claggett is now the presumptive defense counsel for the guy who killed the UNLV student in the backyard boxing match? Since when did C&S start defending cases?
Filed a "Summary Eviction". Just got word that it is set for FIVE MONTHS FROM NOW (January 19, 2023). There is nothing "summary" about setting hearings for tenants to live rent free for FIVE MONTHS from now.
Funny you mention that. I was in court last week and made the mistake of making eye contact with some civilian who was clearly distressed. Turns out he is a residential landlord. He has been trying to evict the deadbeat tenants for months. He was complaining his wife and he are facing bankruptcy. They cant' keep paying the mortgage without the rent, and "no judge cares!"
Not every landlord is Siegel Suites. There's a lot of mom and pop landlords being destroyed.

how is Wanker pronounced? (Just in case I have to make an appearance)
I paid off my law school student loans too, but my son now has student loans himself. I cannot help but hope that he will be eligible for student loan forgiveness. I believe that we are pretty much all the same. We will take responsibility for ourselves when required, but the minute we are relieved of that responsibility, we jump at the chance.
OP again, 10:19 interesting thought, I'm not sure what I think about that, if I'm honest with myself I guess I would take what was offered but in some sort of internal virtue signaling I'd feel bad about it – 10:16 thanks for mentioning that, now I'm even more pissed
I, too paid off my student loans. However, my loan to get through school was about the equivalent of a new car loan. Today, it's more like a medium-sized mortgage for many people, and therein lies the problem. If you look at the cost of typical in-state tuition 30-odd years ago, and scale it up to account for inflation, you will likely get a number that is about half as much (if that) as current tuition.
"…by working hard, budgeting, and believing in being responsible."
If only everyone were as virtuous as you! Here's a special star, 10:12 AM. Thank you for being a beacon to the rest of us, especially those carrying a student loan balance.
It's a good thing student loans are all about individual virtue and not about institutional/policy structure or incentives.
Dammit, everyone, just work hard, be responsible and budget like 10:12 AM!
11:10, OP here, I wasn't trying to be virtuous or rub it in your face, I was being sarcastic about Biden's forgiveness today, it took me many years, I even defaulted once and went through a lot of shit to get back on track, my point was I worked so hard and now others just get it free, it just irks me, I'm not really sure why, I hope you get yours paid off or forgiven, take care!
only way this gets in front of SCOTUS is if some partisan group takes to them….they may win the legal fight but will lose the PR battle and give dems a bigger win at the polls

Google says that same company owned one of the planes that crashed at the North LV airport recently
based on the article, the company has some issues with maintenance with the said helicopter. they mightve just opened themselves up to a countersuit

I thought the hammer was glen Lerner
This entire concept is a BAD idea.
He was the heavy hitter.
Same thing.
haha – you said "wanker"
pronounce it like that in her court, see how it goes

Claggett can do anything. He's a top lawyer in Vegas and a really nice guy.
No
Because he has a sense of justice and the kid is innocent of all claims.

We have discussed capital punishment quite a bit on this page. Maybe this is the solution: killer "euthanised" before standing trial. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-62651349

Rhymes with pawn-fur. I had to call chambers recently regarding a hearing
I'm sooooo glad I paid off my student loan by working hard, budgeting, and believing in being responsible
You are also paying way, way more corporate welfare with your taxes, lets not forget to complain about that too.

It's all political money laundering.

Brandon is forgiving student loans finally and I make too much to qualify. Why couldn't they do this giveaway before I made it?

Yep. Yep. Yep.
The President does not have legal authority to forgive student loan debt. Congress never gave the Executive branch that spending authority.
Yup. Not a chance SCOTUS let's this stand. The debt forgiveness will be overturned before the midterms.
