  • The U.S. District Court, District of Nevada issued the following press release to warn the public:
SCAM ALERT – Federal Courts do not phone or email individuals requesting money or
other sensitive information to avoid arrest.
In various parts of the United States, including Nevada, citizens are being targeted by
phone calls and emails threatening them with prosecution for failing to pay a bond or
failing to appear for a subpoena, hearing, or jury service. In the calls and emails,
recipients may be pressured to provide confidential data, potentially leading to identity
theft and fraud. The recipients may be pressured to provide some sort of immediate
payment to the caller.
These calls and emails are fraudulent and are not connected with the U.S. Courts. If you
receive such a call, it is not a legitimate call from the U.S. District Court. The court does
not require anyone to provide sensitive information or money over the phone or email.

Can someone please explain why there are five candidates going for Dept. N but no one is willing to challenge Default McFarling in Dept C?

I wonder why Adam Ganz wants so badly to be a judge. I have to imagine it will be a huge pay cut for him

He's already pretty much retired. He has always wanted to be a judge.

Until someone sues to challenge it. I may not think Judge Lane or Judge Wanker are the sharpest jurists but pretty sure this one is pretty and open and shut on the violation.

11:31-I think they opened all this back up and extended the deadline, at least for that one seat. Prospective applicants, for the one position, were unable to access the application from the website or some such glitch, and that is why only one applicant successfully applied.

Now that it is opened back up, there are several more who are vying for that particular vacancy, not just attorney McFarling. So, Las Vegas Law Blog should update the applicant list for that race.

Link is to the official page which still shows just one applicant for that seat.

That is a little (a lot) ambiguous. You can do better.

Did not realize Sam Lionel had thrown his name in the hat for a judicial appointment before he passed. Interesting.
