Santa gets black robe fever at Howard D. McKibben Inn of Court event. [eighthjdcourt blog]
There’s a Republican presidential candidate debate at the Venetian tomorrow. Which local attorneys will we spot in the audience? [RJ]
It’s that time of year where organizations and charities are collecting toys and money to help brighten the holidays for some who don’t have the means. We encourage to get involved in one of these projects and do some good for the less fortunate in your community. If you need ideas on how to contribute, just ask in the comments and someone will fill you in.
When the status quo is SO bad (and you're in denial if you don't believe it is), ANY change will do. Besides, paralegals and law school dropouts/bar exam failures already engage in the unlicensed practice of law. At least this way, the States will make money off them, since the "lawyers" who are in charge of "policing" the profession don't do cr*p. "Let them eat cake!" is what I and the masses say!
Big shock that 60%+ of the attorneys disagree with the program. But the reality is the bar has brought this upon itself with its outrageous fees and billing practices in relatively simple cases. A standard family law case without major complexities does not justify billing at $300+ per hour, much less the $400+ which is becoming customary for a less than 5 year attorney. Complex civil matters are regularly handled by experienced attorneys for $175-$250 per hour.
Start charging a reasonable fee and there would be no market for these "alternatives"
Dead.
who cares who is the audience? I am sure Hardy will not be there.

This will not end well for anyone, including the public.

P.S. Shut-up; I "know" that's backwards.
