FORD has no idea what’s going on. Gets surprised by the dismissal, flies off the handle vowing immediate appeal, now he wants to refile in the correct county. I wonder how he’ll screw that up also.

If Ford is thinking about filing in Washoe County, he obviously did not get the memo. I believe Holthus said Douglas County or Carson City would be the proper jurisdiction. Good luck considering the SOL has run.

I am opposed to 45 as much as anyone. But this was a nonsense case. These nonsense case against 45 and his acolytes that live on the margins of legal legitimacy undermine the very serious, very meritorious cases (documents, Georgia).

Yeah that’s about the only defense he has huh.

Documents case – he’s on tape (Lordy there’s tapes!) admitting to possessing classified documents, acknowledging that he could have declassified them but didn’t, and that he shouldn’t be showing it to someone but he did. He lied to investigators and tried to hide things from his own attorney so the attorney could lie for him.

Georgia case – deja vu, there’s tapes again! Asking the GA governor to essentially give him the election. “I just want to find 11780 votes”

Talking points or not, your side is like one Biden son’s gun conviction vs. how many felony convictions, disbarments, hundreds of millions (over a billion?) in civil cases lost, not a single election result overturned, oh, and two popular votes lost. Not much to crow about achievement-wise but yeah, good one about talking points.

I posted a longer response that I think is caught in the spam filter. If it doesn’t get approved I’ll come back and comment more but essentially, he repeatedly asked for GA to give him the election because of course he won, he wasn’t asking for an actual accurate vote count (which GA had already done, twice)

Hmm. well, I believe that’s hype. As i recall his words were “I need 11,xxx votes”. A statement, not an ask to manufacture votes. The conversation as I heard it was to request accuracy and recounts. There were reported voting difficulties in some precincts.
But, people hear what they want to hear…

You’re right, he asked them to find that many votes (I quoted it in my other reply), and I can see how people’s interpretation can differ on it. Appreciate the civil chat about it!

Fwiw, I think the docs case is a stronger case and the election subversion/fake electors is a more serious case. (But that could just be the Maddow in me talking)

There should be no dispute, the annual bar conference MUST be in Nevada. There is already a lack of rulemaking transparency between the NSC, the State Bar, and the members. If they want to have an annual vacation week then whatever, but any actual business needs to be conducted in Nevada.

Holy Jesus! I am sitting in a bankruptcy hearing this morning and they called the Gypsum Resources (Jim Rhodes) case for approval of the Justin Jones settlement. Apparently as part of the settlement, Clark County has indicated that it might seek legislative approval to put Clark County into a Chapter 9 bankruptcy due to the massive size of the settlement. I had never seen it written anywhere that Clark County was considering bankruptcy over the settlement. Had anyone heard about the bankruptcy element?

Pulled the pleadings in that case. “The County has asserted that if Gypsum were to obtain a judgment in the Action for the amount of damages it has asserted, the County would seek legislation to allow it to file for bankruptcy protections (and thereafter file for bankruptcy) or seek a receiver in response because a judgement of this size would financially ruin the County. Should that occur, it would likely take Gypsum much longer to collect anything on its claims against the County.”

I just did the same thing – paragraph 18 Rhodes declaration, doc 2402 case 19-14796 (if anyone else wants to pull it). Rhodes is requesting $2Billion so of course, if they got that judgment I don’t suspect the county would be able to pay it.

Either way, I am more than happy to return to 2019 food and gas prices and if my taxes drop a little? Then I win again. Give me $1,79 gas and mean tweets (Truths?).

I will take that all day over a stumbling, doddering, blathering criminal who sold his oath of office to foreign powers and can’t utter two intelligible sentences in a row.

I think the current polling puts you in the majority of the US voters. All I know is 4 years of no new foreign wars, historic Abraham Accords, historic high economy(until Covid) and mean tweets. There were a lot of good policies brought forth by his administration. But we can have good policies without having him. He took credit last night for advancements that he was against and that happened in spite of him. I think that is where many people come down: he is not necessary or even causally related to prosperity.

Well, at this point before the 2016 election the average gas price was $0.22 ($2.32 / $2.10) higher than at the same point in 2020.

Today it is $3.50. All things being equal, I will gladly take a $0.22 reduction from that.

I knew both of them also. Dennis was a charming guy but could be a (I think the term I saw on here yesterday was anal ring) when the bell rang. He was a good litigator and fought hard.

Having had cases with Joe for 15 years, Joe was an odd duck in many ways. Not always comfortable in cases. Often a little off (see the Pomrenze appeal) but at times OK. I do not claim to know what went through the minds of these people before or on this particular day.

I mean if you assume he was talking about his dad murdering people then sure.. pretty stupid. But given the conduct of the parties involved in the custody dispute I’m sure he was just referencing one more shady thing the other side had done (was doing) and it just ended up looking bad in retrospect.

No one is really sure of anything. Those that would be able to credibly answer those questions are now dead.

Dennis Prince had a special way of irritationg an opponent and then using the irritation to crush that same opponent. As a litigator, he was ruthless and smug at the same time. And he learned and honed his business under the tutelage of some excellent no-nonsense lawyers. Those skills and traits served him and his clients well over the years.

This time they did not.

Knowing what I know after 28 years in practice in Las Vegas, if I had a high stakes, high dollar case against an insurance company, I’d have hired Dennis Prince to represent me. The chances are he’d have gotten me everything I deserve and maybe more.

But if I were Dennis Prince’s pretty new wife and in a cut throat custody battle with my aggressive ex-husband, I’d probably have hired someone else.

Why even have Dennis Prince in the room then? What purpose did to serve? Was it calculated to achieve some other goal than the efficient and pragmatic resolution of the custody dispute? Was Dennis Prince’s involvement intended in any way to rub the Houton family’s nose in shit? Was it a display of power by Ashley? Was Prince establishing his dominance? Was rhe children’s best interest served by having Dennis Prince involved in the custody dispute?

Who TF are you? The “efficient and pragmatic resolution of the custody dispute”? Is that what you think any of these people were actually after?

How fucking naive can you be?

If there was a goal, it was to win and having Dennis in the room goes a long, long way to make that happen.

Winning (from Dennis’ likely perspective) was in the children’s best interests, given the reported behavior, abuse (physical and substance) and other antics by Dylan.

12:09’s way of thinking is why family court is so irretrievably fucked up. People would rather be right than happy. Stupid way to live, IMO; but it’s the way the majority of people in that situation think.

Family law litigants often want revenge. They want to inflict harm on the opponent party. Is that really what the law is supposed to do?

Wonder if Ashley’s 3 kids are happy that she and Dennis were winning.

No. Because of Dennis’ reputation and IDK, his “gravitas”. Sometimes just being in the room with a baller with a reputation has intangible effects on the parties.

Certainly, the same could be said about Joe. But the effect is not on ly real on OC’s but on deponents, especially the one in this case, the mother of the Ex Husband, a JEA IN family court.

His presence might just have been there as a comfort to Ashley, which is also an intangible benefit.

I am just really fucking tired of the Prince (the victims) blamers in discussing this case. Dennis was a badass who deserved the respect he was afforded and he was not afraid to use it to his advantage.

“If Dennis had not been there . . . . . blah blah blah.”

And, if your aunt had balls, she would be your uncle.

Let them RIP and stop the Monday Morning quarterbacking / legislating your way to avoid another situation. It is a losing proposition. Period.
