Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers Program

Confidential help from a fellow lawyer is a phone call away

Toll Free: 866-828-0022

If you, or any lawyer in Nevada, are in need of confidential assistance with an alcohol, drug, depression, stress or gambling problem, help is readily available through the LCL Hotline. When calling, leave your first name and telephone number. A fellow lawyer, who has also had problems, will call you back. You’ll be listened to with an understanding heart rather than scorn, judgment and condemnation. You can talk frankly. The person returning your call is solving problems just like yours, and is living happily and usefully doing so.

Who We Are

Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers has existed in Nevada since 1985.
The organization is dedicated to helping State Bar members recover from alcohol and drug addiction, compulsive gambling, stress, and depression. LCL does not police, discipline or otherwise threaten the career or reputation of an attorney or judge who seeks help. The purpose of LCL is to prevent a ruined career or reputation by providing help before the damage is done.  LCLs services are discreet and absolutely confidential and are available at no charge.

Confidentiality

Supreme Court Rule 106.5 provides confidentiality for individuals seeking assistance from LCL. All communications and actions are held in the strictest confidence and are not reported to any individual or entity outside LCL, including state bar disciplinary, admission, administrative or other state bar proceeding.

If anyone knows her, please encourage her to call. Despite the harpies on this blog, there are those of us watching who are genuinely concerned. This isn't funny. She's clearly not well and deserves our sympathy and help, not mocking.

She deserves a little bit of mocking. Anyone who immediately claims they are the victims of "haters" deserves to be mocked. I don't care what the situation is; if you use the word "haters", you deserve verbal scorn.

So it appears that Alexis has decided to pour gasoline on the fire that is about to consumer her career? That photo in the RJ may be one of the least flattering mugshots I've seen. She looks a bit like the Joker.

And why do lawyers keep hooking up with inmates in Las Vegas? Is there some kind of psychological effect here that I'm not aware of?

She is, apparantly, facing the cold hard facts about her actions:

Jack Smith:
Just a question, hope it don't piss you off. If I use you to represent me will judges see my case fairly? Just wondering because of all this publicity that you're getting might turn judges against you or your clients. I know they are suppose to uphold the law but we all know they make their own rules

This is sad to watch. This kind of voyeurism of someone's darkest hour is a sad reflection on who we are as a society. This is already such a dark, sad profession and city. I do not find any of this stuff with AP to be fun or interesting or entertaining. I hope she eventually works things out.

Can I ask because I don't know what else to say…. Are we sure her FB has not been hacked? Some of the comments are being made in the third person. Yes it appears that she is in full meltdown mode but is there a chance that these posts are not her making these comments?

I thought yesterday's post title was part of the problem – I'm not sure posting LCL the next day makes up for what was implied. How can we watch the awfulness of the comments on this blog play out and then throw in the odd "get help" reminder? I know my darkest moments have been as a result of treatment by fellow attorneys.

How can we? Are you new here? Because this is the Schadenfreude Blog. We revel in the misery and misfortune of our fellow attorneys. Posters on this blog take great joy in piously kicking people when they are down.

Agreed. This profession is stressful enough. Lawyer trolling makes it significantly worse. Do other professions engage in this type of behavior?

I know the Las Vegas clown community is very tight knit and they are known to be pretty ruthless when they talk trash about each other. Professional clowning just isn't what it used to be.

So when is it OK? When someone gets charged? When someone pleads? When someone has an auto accident? When someone melts down in Court?

It seems that lawyers have a sadistic side that needs to be regularly fed through the gratuitous use of ad hominem personal attacks. Seems to be an occupational prerequisite, but one that is gleefully embraced by some members of the bar.

Some of the lawyers I have come across are the biggest assholes going, not all, but a lot. Just have to find away to have teflon skin and not allow them to get to you. Some of the judges are nasty, too. Just do the "whaboom" every day.

OBC is out of control with the overzealousness to suspend attorneys. Good luck with getting a reasonable panel if you are subject to a hearing since OBC will try to torch your license for nothing.

Completely correct. OBC is absolutely out of control and it starts with Stan who needs to go. And do not believe a SINGLE thing any member of the OBC tells you because they lie, they rescind accepted offers of resolution. Honestly they are the most dishonest attorneys in the State because they can be. After all, who is going to go after them?

Does anyone know what is happening with the ADA troll cases that Whitney Wilcher is filing? I saw an order that assigns all of them to Navarro. Is anyone taking the lead in defense?

If Plunkett files a complaint against her attorney, she'll sink herself further.
Confidentiality as to their disagreement will be waived, and whatever she told Langford related to that disagreement, e.g., how to proceed, admissions, whether to lie, etc., will potentially be admissible against her in the felony cases.

I don't think she is worried about confidentiality based upon her comments to the R/J and on her Facebook. And looking back over her FB, she appears to have not been mentally well for a good while. Best thing that could happen to her would be some friends having an intervention and perhaps taking her to a remote location that has no Wi-Fi.

Plunkett waived privilege when she reported to the RJ what her attorney said to her. As she doesn't understand the basics of privilege, and the right to remain silent, I would never hire her…well, maybe to fix my traffic ticket.

All these Billy Bad Asses that want to anonymously shit talk their peers on here don't cover up for their micropenises by posting anonymously. We all know who you are and that you are *small* so please realize, calling someone names and reveling in their destruction won't help you get dates and certainly won't help your little weenie get any bigger. So probably shutting the F up would be better for you, or enroll yourself in some obedience course over at the nearest PetSmart. I'll throw $5 on it, I'm guessing others will too. Heck, create a "go fund me" page, and maybe we can get you a bigger member so you don't feel the need to come anonymously assert yourself and pee all over the blog to mark your teensy weensy little territory. I can throw some change on your hair plugs too.

Sigh…every so often one of these "people who post anonymously are cowards" types pops up all chest thumping tough talk. When a lawyer does wrong in such a flamboyant and public way bringing further discredit and embarrassment to our profession, they are going to be discussed. A lawyer who steals from clients to fuel a gambling addition doesn't get a pass because the problem stems from a mental problem. Much outrageously bad behavior has mental problems as a root cause. By the way, my micro-penis is so small that you can't see it at all. Because I don't have one. Because I'm female. Please offer another theory on why I am such an asshole.

So since we're on the topic of Ms. Plunkett, her firm website says she was Nevada Business Legal Elite in 2013 and 2015. I'm trying to crack into that thing — is there some secret to this? Tons of friends I have to bribe? Get clients to respond? Payola?
