The Millers are idiotic racists. Aside from being complete pieces of trash, what did they get out of that? Nothing will ever erase this incident from them, their family, or their little shit hole town. And all for what? Because the sloppy hillbillies wanted to bully a man registering people to vote? Gross, ugly people with tiny rat brains.

None of that, even assuming you are correct, justifies criminalizing the First Amendment, which last time I checked applies even to assholes. Take your hyperbolic indignation (which borders on a hate crime under this standard) take a seat and calm down.

And just for clarity, the victim was not “registering people to vote. He was gathering signatures for a proposed ballot measure.

It’s been a bit since conlaw, but I’m pretty sure the First Amendment doesn’t protect people’s right to threaten to hang folks. I’ll double check though.

What is referencing a “hanging tree” if not a threat to lynch someone? Stop being obtuse.

Stop being hyperbolic. If I mention a guillotine to a french man, is that that “threat” of beheading?

Unless he says “I am going to lynch you from the hanging tree” its not definitively, a threat. Nor is “mentioning” a hanging tree to a black man.

Can showing somebody a concealed gun at your waist be a threat? You know, the ol’ lifting up of your shirt. I’d say yes. There’s no overt statement that “I’m going to shoot you” but it can absolutely be implied from actions or statements.

Not saying it’s a slam dunk, but you can’t say the hanging tree statement wasn’t meant to intimidate.

“Meant to Intimidate” does not even come close to equaling a “threaten to hang” as you stated at 849 and reiterated at 1020.

Just fold already. Admit you were being hyperbolic and move TF on.

I would fucking eat you alive in a courtroom and you would look even more foolish than you do now.

The charge was “noise violation and breach of peace” with a race tag on. It looks like in fairness, equal justice, etc., In reading the RJ story, it appears that Johnson was equally guilty of “noise violation and breach of peace”, but was not charged. Is this not racial?

Watch the video, and Johnson is clearly as loud or louder and is also an instigator of the confrontation. No excuse for race to come into the discussion. But there is a reason that Johnson is not responding to media requests about the story.

I agree with 10:20. Mr. Johnson was the only clown I saw on the video making a scene acting like a jerk to get attention. While I don’t think the Millers are the best people on the video with the male’s comment (which was not caught on video but clearly triggered the filming of the aftermath, the incident got blown out of proportion but there needs to be some responsibility on the alleged victim here. Why is he allowed to disturb the peace of others?

I agree with everything that you just said. However “Miller’s wife, Janis Miller, who is seen on the video ushering Johnson into the street, faces one count of battery.” Battery because she ushered Johnson away from a confrontation on their property? Seems like an incident of overcharging to prove a point.

Battery because she kept touching him, despite his numerous requests for her to stop doing so. And it wasn’t her property – it was a public sidewalk. “Ushering” with unwanted physical touching = battery.

Watch the video. Not a battery as she puts her arms up and he backs up. He then says he will be on their property if he chooses. I have to be honest that I thought these were racist jerks from all of the media reports also. Having now seen the video, there is not a single good guy on any side in this video. All of these people (including Johnson) should be condemned.

She put her hands on him. Some hillbilly pit their hands on me and I’d beat her ass. That absolutely is a battery. Harmful or offensive contact.

After she puts her arms and he backs up, she says stay off my property. He threatens her and tells her that he wants to fight her and “Let’s go”. And I have little doubt that you beat a woman.

Have not seen a single person excuse or justify the racist comments. Johnson repeatedly charging the other bystanders and telling them to f**k themselves does not make him a sympathetic victim. It is OK to condemn the Millers while also pointing out that Johnson is not a good guy in this story.

The origin of the term “hillbilly” is not racist. The term became a derogatory insult later but once again was not race affiliated. “White trash” on the other hand is clearly racially related.

Like the Vance book shows, it is a pejorative term that those who are poor and rural embrace amongst themselves but do not like it hurled by those who are not in that category.

Ok I’ll help you out. Word on the street is Tellrs set this whole thing up so he could short the stock on the landscaping hat he allegedly wore that day as the stock will tumble once it becomes associated with his acts. With his new found money he will run for DA and buy the RJ only to gut the building for his campaign headquarters.

HH thrived on herd mentality and elusive status. It was always a terrible location, extremely inconvenient. Most of the attorneys had to cross the Strip to get to work every day. I once asked one of the partners about this, and I shit you not, he said, “It’s easier for our clients to come in from the airport.” Like they had 2-3 jetsetters coming in every day. GTFO. I’m glad I never worked down there. Plus, all the lunch options in that area are overpriced.

It’s confirmed that Telles will take the stand. Which means the prosecutors are sweating bullets this weekend. They’ve never crossed someone as smart as Telles. He will run circles around them and humiliate them in front of the jury.
