Here’s a friendly reminder courtesy of Jonathan MacArthur that you’re being recorded when you’re in the courtroom. [8NewsNow]

Not only should Mr. MacArthur not be disciplined, but it should become a new requirement that the prevailing party in all court matters must metaphorically spank the other side.
Jonathan should be sanctioned for acting like a jerk when it was not necessary. He is still bound by the rules of professional responsibility. Act your age and not your shoe size. This is not the first time he has been in trouble for acting like an idiot.
This whole situation is pathetic. If you’re such a pansy you can’t handle some seriously low level shenanigans from OC, I’m sure there’s a transactional firm out there who’d hire you. If you want to litigate (especially in criminal court,) you better buck up. And before you start angrily start typing, I’m a liberal female attorney.
"I'm a liberal female attorney." You hide behind that like it's some of protective shield. That allows you to speak your mind, and not be threatened by an opposing opinion.
So it’s fine to call the black male names, but when I point out the very problematic behavior the DA’s office, my comment gets deleted? [insert Chrissy Teigen quote here]
I wouldn't fault her for thinking maybe it was directed at her if she saw it out of the corner of her eye, but to my view, the video clearly shows him joking around about spanking Villani. Was it appropriate for the courtroom. No. Was it funny? probably a little bit.

Dana Titus may be the most clueless politician, ever. Nobody from Summerlin is ever taking a tram over to the East side.
"Kids have never seen Red Rock."
Titus is ridiculous. How is riding a bus or rail to DTSummerlin going to get them the additional 6.2 miles up Charleston and Route 159 to Red Rock?
Does she think that people are stupid or has she never been to Red Rock?
She is probably unaware of the location of Red Rock vs Summerlin. BTW, where in Red Rock does she want the kids to go? it's a big place.
It was a stupid comment, and probably a stupid proposal. RTC already runs buses up and down Charleston from East to West. Light rail from the north west, Henderson, and Rhodes to downtown might be helpful for commuters.
If it's an actual issue, then set up a dedicated non-stop bus route. Saying “A lot of the children in my district on the east side have never been to (Red Rock Canyon) and now this will give them access to go out there and see what’s beyond their own neighborhood,” is a pile of crap, spoken by a clueless liftime academic politician with no concept of the real world.
If a low-income housekeeper, waiter, cook, etc. works in Summerlin and they don't have a car (yes, there are people in LV and the "real world" that live on a limited income & need to get to work somehow), I wouldn't be vehemently opposed to seeing a more environmentally friendly mode of public transportation for them than an RTC bus. Beyond that, one of the top criticisms of living in Las Vegas has been lack of suitable public transportation, like most big cities have.
If the bus is apparently good enough to move the underclass around town, can the city at least build some more sun shelters? There are a lot of stops in Summerlin that don't have any sort of overhang or other way to get out of the sun. My old apartment was near one such stop, I used to watch folks wait for the bus after getting off of shifts at 7-11 or a fast food place or after cleaning a nearby office, getting roasted while they waited for the next bus to arrive.
The RTC bus is apparently good enough to move numerous high school students because CCSD Trustees prefer to give Jara another pay raise instead of paying bus drivers. High school students that need to walk a mile or two in the sun with no shade.
Where's their light rail?
The good housekeepers and landscapers have vehicles. One our neighbors drives his housekeeper to the bus stop by DTS. I'd make mine walk but she has a car.

In order to visit Red Rock don't you have to make an appointment online? You can't just show up on a tram.

Bus rapid transit is faster and cheaper than light rail, I don't understand politicians' obsession with light rail (other than I guess it's something shiny to point at and say "that was me"). But yet, Vegas needs some public transit or traffic will get worse and worse. If there were a stop at DT Summerlin, they could have a Red Rock shuttle which would help address Red Rock's own traffic/parking issues (that's why you need a ticket now).
Light rail works in every city that I have visited. We just spent a gazillion on the spaghetti bowel, and the I-15 through the strip corridor. Despite the improvements, its already beyond capacity. The new I-11 is planned to merge into the I-15 or 215, At some point it is not possible to just add another lane.
My thoughts go out to the family of Xavier Gonzales. I knew him when he was first starting out. Nice guy.

Criticize me if you want. I didn't go to law school, work until I exhausted myself, and move to Summerlin; so I could have more poor, uneducated people visit me. Leave them on the other side of town. I've spent a lifetime trying to get away. I'm not the bad guy – let them work their way over here not jump on a train.
OP back. OK, I'll keep my day job as a middling attorney and not try to be a sarcastic, social commentator. It was meant to be sarcastic and critical of those who would not let people even visit their side of town or support it. I can see from the remarks, I was taken seriously and I do not want a reader of this blog, years from now, to think that lawyers hold these opinions. Please accept my apology and I will try harder (or give up my comedy career entirely).
@2:27p – I remember that fondly. I remember that crap coming out in elections and thought any person who would say that publicly has bad judgment about what their position as a judge would be. However, I didn't live in North LV to vote so it was just a mental exercise.

I wonder how the buried lede here escaped scrutiny.
That Jake Villani bets on his cases.
Seems racist to me to report on MacArthur's antics, without addressing the larger concern.

I never found games of grab ass and slap nuts appropriate. Keep your hands to yourself. Serious male liberal.

I'm not on Linkedin(or whatever it's called), so what exactly did Jonathan MacArthur say or do?
The 8NewsNow story had video of JMac air-smackin' dat ass a couple of times.

Applause for 10:47 and the Prince quote 💋
Effin' JMAC. Always amusing us.
I need to see the MacArthur video before I render my verdict.
Duh, it's there, it's stupid move along. I'm so sick of prosecutors pretending to be victims.

It's just an elaborate ruse to get more people access to First Friday.

She meant the Red Rock Resort and Casino. It truly is majestic, and a good trip for some of these kids to visit their place of future employment.
1255 wins today.
We are not worthy.
Amen
Some people on the East side may have jobs in Summerlin, and I suspect they'd like a way to get to and from work.
Let them ride the cake

NAILED IT.
Dina Titus, hard at work for everyday Nevadans, making Las Vegas a better place to live!

Utah's Trax is pretty badass, TBH.

Holy shit, grown ass adults actually post shit like 1:30?

Those of us that can objectively read a post understood that you were being sarcastic. Not funny per se, but we got the sarcasm.
The tightwads from 134 and 147 are just that. Would way too damn tight.
Eff em. 🖕🖕
1:47 here. Props for the follow up. Consider my earlier criticism formally rescinded.
However, my criticism of 2:42's spell check abilities remains.

I had a PI case with him years ago. Nice guy as I recall. RIP.

Talk about a fat ass nothing burger with ZERO legal implications. 🙄
They apparently didn't get the memo that the reason emissions went down so dramatically since 2005 is because of…….fracking.
It made natural gas cheap and coal usage plummeted.
But they'll claim it was because of their "advocacy."
Does everyone remember Jonathan MacArthur's quote from MySpace in 2006: breaking my foot off in a prosecutor’s ass"?
See https://lasvegasweekly.com/as-we-see-it/2008/apr/23/invading-his-myspace/
He lost his pro tem position as a result of this comment. I wonder how the most recent stuff will weigh in.
Is that such a bad thing? 🙂
How about breaking your foot off in a prosecutor's ass and then slapping it? Seems about right.
The rub is – all of the above actually needs doing. So what's the problem.
@2:27p – I remember that fondly. I remember that crap coming out in elections and thought any person who would say that publicly has bad judgment about what their position as a judge would be. However, I didn't live in North LV to vote so it was just a mental exercise.
The pattern of behavior demonstrates an inordinate preoccupation with prosecutors' asses.
