I was impressed by the Metro officer. He remained calm and in control, didn’t allow himself to be bullied and upheld the integrity of the public trust. It’s reassuring to see good examples from Metro officers balancing out some of the idiots.
Looks like the fake nurse just used the license number of a real nurse with the same name. I wonder how long she got away with it? That could easily be enough to fool most people – go to the Board of Nursing website, look at the name, look at the number, “yep, that checks out.” I wonder how many times this (or similar) has happened where the person was never caught?
That’s why I’m glad my name is Sneezle Von Weedentickle.

I’m probably late to the game on this and you all have probably discussed this plenty, but I received an email from the Bar today indicating the “The Nevada Comprehensive Licensing Examination (Nevada Plan) will replace the current bar exam with a three-part system designed to better assess minimum competence to practice law in Nevada”. Did Bar members approve this and I missed it?
The discussion yesterday was on whether or not the Nevada Supreme Court actually wanted feedback on the issue before they made their decision to alter the bar exam. One commenter reminded everyone about the overwhelming negative feedback that the NVSC received, re: mandatory insurance.
I don’t think these are the same. With the bar exam, a “task force” which included numerous non-practitioners, made a specific proposal. No such task force or proposal existed with the mandatory insurance issue.
I suspect that NVSC made the appointments to the so-called “task force” with a specific outcome in mind. I’m not saying that NVSC told the task force what they wanted (off the record). I’m saying that they selected people who they were pretty sure were going to go in a certain direction. I don’t believe NVSC wanted feedback, or was actually inclined to listen to it. The Probate Bar undertook a well-organized campaign to have estate/trust matters included in the so-called “Next-Gen” bar exam, and were not only completely ignored, but not even acknowledged. This outcome was determined before the process even began.
Hey, she’s related to someone who’s related to someone who had that name. America was built on nepotism, who are we to interfere with the laws of pseudo-primogenacy?

If you send a paralegal to negotiate the case with me I am not going to be happy with you. When you send your paralegal to threaten me with sanctions, I am going to pretend your paralegal is Marietta in the path of Sherman.
Pardon. Many law firms charge for preparing a client’s returns when part of a legal matter. Examples are representation before the IRS and assisting in a trust or probate.
Don’t forget to evaluate the need for a 706. Even if the decedent’s estate is less than the unified credit exemption, it is sometimes strategically important to make a prophylactic filing. The 1041 is not hard but there are some differences that you need to know. If in doubt ….
4:43 here. Find a CPA, not a store front tax preparer. Not an accountant. Note that CPAs that have experience with decedent estates are few. That said there some enrolled preparers that are competent to prepare a 1041.

You are correct. On the other hand there are far more William Scotts on the LVMPD than we care to admit.
Good job Channel 8.

Just like the juvenile probation worker who used the attorney’s bar number.

Or the Paralegal who posed as a lawyer and judge

Bar Exam
Where have you been? This was extensively discussed on this thread a year ago when the SC was soliciting attorney comment.
OP here – got it; I tried searching before posting but epically failed. My bad
RIP Amberlea Schnell Davis, Esq.

Was her dad NLV Judge Gary Davis or some other Gary Davis?
Yes, Judge Davis is her father
I recall appearing in his courtroom years ago. He was always nice to me, but the poor Defendants. . . .
Drive safely around school zones, please. A 12 year old was hit and killed yesterday while on her bike in a marked biked lane.
To be fair, he was killed by a drunk driver at 8 am. I don’t know that the rest of us driving carefully would have prevented that accident.
Different dead 12 year old. And yeah, that’s a horrific sentence, seeing as I have kids that age.
My idea of careful driving includes reporting drunk drivers which I have done twice in my life.
This girl was hit by a school bus. Pay attention
Look at the screen grab of the accident location on Tropical near Bradley. https://www.8newsnow.com/news/local-news/12-year-old-girl-killed-in-las-vegas-school-bus-crash/ There is an SUV parked in the bike lane. She had to leave the bike lane and somehow hit the bus and/or physics of the air around the bus pushed her into the parked car that shouldn’t have been there.
This so-called ‘accident’ was entirely preventable. There is no excuse for driving under the influence.
The 12 year old on a bike was hit by the school bus.

The crash happened when she collided with the school bus and was projected into an SUV and then fell onto the ground, police said.
The SUV should not have been parked in the bike lane. The bus should have avoided the child. Poor baby.
Judge Susan Roger retiring opens up a position for appointment. Cue Madilyn “Leavitt” Cole. *rolls eyes*

🙄
Why would you even talk to the paralegal?
Anyone have a reasonably priced accountant who can prepare a final tax return for a decedent and do a tax return for a trust? Thank you
1040s and 1041s are not that hard. You can do them both using Turbotax Business.
But you can’t bill for doing them as it’s not “legal work” while you can get approval to pay for an accountant to do them.

If in doubt, use a prophylaxis. Excellent advice.
3:45 pm here, all great points, which I don’t want to deal with, hence the asking for an accountant haha. Any recommendations? Thank you
