Justice Is Not Blind In Nevada

  • Law

As if there was not already enough reason to poke fun at it, the Justice League of Nevada has a new website featuring a cartoon character Lady Justice with her blindfold lifted so that one eye can see. Was there ever a more fitting symbol of the Nevada legal system? The only thing it needs to make it even more true to life is a little money on one of her scales tipping it slightly to one side. Don’t get us wrong, we applaud what the Justice League of Nevada is doing–it’s just that name and the cartoon are not helping its case.

Speaking of blind justice, the power went out at the RJC yesterday. 8newsnow reports that trials that were going on continued, but no one else could be let in the building because of security issues. Seriously? This is an example of government employees at its best. Oh, the power is out, guess we better shut down for the day because there is no other way for people to get in the building if they don’t pass through a metal detector first. Is anybody old enough to remember what they did before we had metal detectors?

Finally, don’t forget that tonight there is a party at Rick Harris’ firm. It is conveniently located downtown where First Friday is also happening tonight–making it a great opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Make sure if you go that you get some good gossip to share with us. If you’re not the partying type, Iron Man 3 comes out today. I have heard that a certain courthouse in Nevada has a statue/painting of lady justice in/on the front, without any blindfold whatsoever on lady justice.

Okay, I looked at the Justice League's site. Because the white box is covering up most of her arm, it looked at first like she had a hook for a hand. Combined with the eyepatch, cape, and the sword, I thought I was looking at a lady Pirate. Yo ho, mateys!

Nice article from 1977, but it doesn't do anything for the Justice League's depiction of the dread-pirate justice with one blindfolded and one eye open.

Not only does she look like a Pirate but apparently Justice in Nevada is being undertaken Anime style. Is this Okada's revenge on him losing at every turn to Wynn?

I thought the same change was a joke at the time and cartoonish. This truly seals the deal.

OMG I just looked at it – you weren't kidding.

This is so pathetic. This is even worse than that piece of garbage we call the "new" State Bar website.

Why did the Nevada Law Foundation change their name to the Avengers?
