JD McNugent, Esq.!  Welcome to the Las Vegas Law Blog!
It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Law Blog could benefit from some new energy and attention.  So, JD will be contributing whenever s/he feels like it, on pretty much whatever s/he feels like blogging about.  Thanks, JD McNugent!
In the meantime, here are a few things going on in the Las Vegas legal community the past few days:

Also, word on the street is that a smaller bankruptcy firm is merging with MAC at the beginning of the year.  Anyone know if this is true, and if so, what the details are?

The Righthaven auction should be interesting. According to the defendants, Righthaven doesn't hold any valid assignments, because assignments solely for the purpose of litigation are invalid. Thus, there is no property to sell, except maybe accounts receivable. So if the court sanctions the auction of invalid assignments, is the court essentially putting its stamp of approval on fraud? Or is the court conceding that the assignments have some value (which would mean that Righthaven had standing after all)?

@5:53,

Um, no. I don't personally have anything against ATMS, although from what I hear the 6-month plan is still going strong over there. (Draw full salary during your first 6 months when your billables aren't directly connected to your paycheck, and bail at 6.5 months for a better job elsewhere.) No thank you.

[side note: verification word: wypsynyy]. Is it happy Y-day?]

law.dawg – I'm pretty sure no one was slamming you. The slam was against the stick-up-their-ass members of the Vegas legal community who fail to see the absurdity of the way things are don here. We heve some real characters in this legal community and part of the fun is seeing them exposed.

Would anyone read these blogs if every post was about the shitty job market?

@11:00,

How does getting irritated at repeated unfunny references to things that weren't all that funny to begin with show that we don't see the absurdity in the legal community? I see things every day that I just have to shake my head about, from both the bench and the bar. I'm sure in the years to come, I'll see many more. So why is it such a wonderful thing to encourage comments about stale and boring topics? Yes, we get it. Troy Fox, Bk Hottie, et. al. may have made you titter in the past. Stefany Miley has a big, saggy chest, (seriously, people. She's maybe a 5, and only with a lot of liquor. She never deserved the comment level she got) and she married a dog-killin' SOB. BUT THAT WAS NEWS TWO YEARS AGO. Halverson was three years ago. Even the skewering of Warren at Bridge City Legal happened a good six months ago. If you can't find funny stuff happening every week, you're just not trying.

Hey Law Pooch. @10:28 here. Actually, it was a rhetorical question. I was only making fun of your typo "creidt". I'm not a spelling nazi and it was more humorous in my head then on the blog. Consider it retracted/motion to strike. It was a slow Friday morning. My bad.

I appreciate the clarification, commenters, but I was also kidding. Looks like just another case of sarcasm getting lost in translation.. Anyway, I have a thick coat of fur – if anyone does actually want to bag on me, or this blog, please be my guest!
