Oh my God! I did a settlement conference with him on Friday. He looked fine. I have known John for 30 years. Great person. Terrible.

Very sad news. Dealt with him several times over the years. I think he was with Ranalli’s office most recently. What a tragedy.

I heard that John passed away at church, seconds after finishing concluding a talk in which he bore testimony about Jesus Christ and the importance of Easter. If you are a religious person, that has to be up there as one of top ways to go

Always thought the same re: Mike O’Callaghan’s collapse at an early morning Mass, possibly en route to communion or upon returning to his pew after communion, if memory serves.

South Park did an episode about just that. Season 7 Episode 12. I’ll give you a hint, they stopped wanting their members to refer to themselves as the externally commonly used nicknames.

RE: Metro’s use of AI, if they are forced to defend their rationale for a given decision and the answer is “the AI said so,” it will be hard for them to avoid the conclusion that the decision is arbitrary and capricious. That makes me question their choice to use an AI system for public records requests, given it’s a particularly litigious topic for them.

All AI is suspect. Two examples.
1. For personal use, I have a Chat Gpt account. It remembers everything I have asked, which by inference includes personal information. Perhaps more importantly, it tries to give you an answer that it thinks that you want to hear. You have to be VERY careful to construct your inquiry in the most neutral way possible.
2. For my practice, I asked it to draft a demand letter that included a cite. It came back with the correct statute but also included a subparagraph that does not exist in the actual statute and a quoted sentence from the statute that does not exist.

There is a meme circulating of the response to an inquiry as to whether it is better to walk or drive to go get one’s car washed, where the conclusion of course is that it’s better to walk since the weather is nice…

AI is willing to accept correction to change things it gets wrong. It is also willing to accept correction to change things it gets correct. Practicing professionals should burn it to the ground.
