I’m a native, 6th generation Utahn. Utah can go pound sand. I see how they use water in St. George when I’m up north visiting family. Here we are ripping out our last lawn strips and up in St. George people think their front lawn is Augusta National.
About 70 percent of St. George’s water is sourced from the Virgin River watershed, both surface and groundwater rights. The Virgin River is a Colorado River tributary. Whatever comes out of the Virgin River upstream never makes it into the Colorado River.
The esteemed POTUS posted “Good, I’m glad he’s dead” re Robert Mueller in March of this year, but please do lecture us about appropriate decorum on the death of public figures.

When the date of publication comes for the Big Beautiful Obituary, Trump’s disciples and acolytes will be out and about with crocodile grievance tears and a proverbial club. The best thing the 70% can do is just pay him no attention at all, don’t give them a payoff. When a coworker says, “Hey, did you hear that Trump died?” I plan on responding with, “No, I didn’t. Hey, did you finish your TPS reports? Please make sure they are done by the end of the day. Thanks.”
Always a gentleman to deal with, and a great guy just to talk to. I had him on a couple of cases when he was at Rawlings Olson in the years leading up to his retirement. I remember the devastating loss of his daughter early in my career. A great lawyer and human. RIP
Its 110 degrees so I am old and cranky. But I remember the days when I would take a Motion to Cliff or OldAmy at Master Calendar, it would get calendared and stamped and the case would move forward in 60 seconds. We have motions filed August 3 that still do not have a Notice of Hearing. We have writs from the middle of July that are sitting pending. I love technology but our court system is slowing things down rather than speeding things up.
This seems a little odd you should call and follow up. I say this because I agree they’re slower than usual but we file tons of motions and they all are always set within 72 hours (still slow but not 3 weeks slow)
This complaint is gold. I’ve got a list of firms that we know do this. Maybe I should quit my ID job and cap people who’ve been capped to make money off other PI attorneys desperate to avoid criminal liability and bar sanctions.
Looks like NRS 7.045 provides a private right of action against attorneys who cap. New business model just dropped. Screw parking tickets. I’m going after the real money.
someone should file a bar complaint against dimoplous for knowing that this happened and instead of reporting it to the bar, they just tried to settle it, assuming that they did not already report it to the bar.
How do you know he didn’t?….grow up! At least he has the guts to bring this action and do something OBC, the DA, AG and anyone else with actual authority to stop capping has ever done (feckless is the word that comes to mind when I read the OBC’s attempt to go after Katie G.)
After reading the statute, it anticipates the damages being the actual fees and costs charged and taken by the attorney for the work. So if, as here, Dimopolous managed to get these clients before there was an earned, paid fee to Heidari….where are the damages? The allegations are the Heidari asserted a lien against recovery, but that amount was almost certainly not adjudicated.
I hope there are PI attorneys laying awake tonight on their pillow full of money wondering if that tow truck driver, Uber driver or “marketing” person they paid to cap is going to call them in the morning and say “yeah, I’m going to need $25K in a brown paper bag delivered to my rat infested apartment or I call the state bar, Metro and the AG on your ass…..” Putting your license and livelihood in the hands of a capper is just unfathomable!
But he drives a Lambo. If that’s not Vegas cred I don’t know what is.

I love all the judicial candidate campaign events. Can’t wait for the next text I get asking for more contributions. How much do they need?? A half a million isn’t enough. 300k isn’t enough. They can’t spend the money in their coffers in the next two months so you’re paying for all the conference travels they get to do over the next six years. And all the galas they’ll be attending. Enough already.
It’s wild. If you go into some of the judges expenditures they are donating the donations they received to charities and other political campaigns. How is that a justifiable election related expense for a campaign?
Ooo, how positively SCANDALOUS. Whom amongst the bench is donating to other campaigns? I believe that’s a judicial ethics violation. And to what charities to these dollars flow? Is The Human Fund amongst the list of beneficiaries?
Not a single judge is donating to other judicial or other campaigns. Not one.
Donating to political charities? If you mean buying tickets to events, they’re allowed to do that.
I took two phone calls from judges themselves during the workday yesterday. One of them issued an Order to Show Cause against me last year and wasted three hours of my time. And yet you call me asking for money?

Holy Judicial Weirdness. Defendants’ counsel files Motion to Withdraw. Neither the Motion or Order give an actual physical address for Defendants but Defendants’ counsel adds Defendants to the e-serve list. Defendants counsel does not do a Notice of Entry of Order.
So what does the Court do next? Order PLAINTIFFS’ COUNSEL to hire a process server (at Plaintiffs’ expense) to personally serve Defendants’ Order Granting Motion to Withdraw on Defendants.
I’ll never forget the Supreme Court’s infamous footnote. “But this judge has a history of not following the rules. See [string cite of previous reversals].”

George Lyles passed away over the weekend. I had a few cases with him over the years and was always happy when I saw him on the opposite side.
