Lost Vagrants will be headlining a show at Rockstar Bar on 1/14 with Suburban Resistance and 90 Proof opening. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite or at the door for 5 dollars more, or you could just ask one of the Lost Vagrants to add you to the no-cover VIP List. They are also headlining a free show at the all-new downtown Sand Dollar in the Plaza on 1/28 with Divided by Stereo (featuring Attorney Brian Boyer). You can follow them on Instagram or FB for future show dates, times and locations.
Speaking of opportunities for potential suits over discrimination and harassment, it’s time for the annual holiday parties discussion! What is your firm doing this year? Are you doing lunch in the office, dinner on the strip, a cruise, etc? Will there be gifts, door prizes, alcohol? While we’ll get to bonuses later, does your firm do bonuses before or after the holiday party?
We did holiday parties that included shows, fancy dinners, events, even taking everyone out of town. And staff showed gratitude but not $575 per person grateful. Because it was not worth $1150 per couple to them to have to make small talk with other employees' spouses. So we have a lunch and gift exchange and give people the afternoon off and the money that would otherwise have gone to a party is rolled into bonus and gift cards.

CCSD
While CCSD may be well intentioned, every kid that watches TV and has access to the internet already knowns how sex works.
The students would be better served if they learned math, science, reading and writing. The CCSD performance standards in these areas are practically third world quality.
"While CCSD may be well intentioned, every kid that watches TV and has access to the internet already knowns how sex works." The misinformation they receive from media, especially online pornography, makes sex education even more imperative.
Also, it's not an either/or. We can have comprehensive sex ed AND the other subjects 12:38 mentions. We don't, at least effectively, but that's because it's CCSD, not because sex ed is offered.
Sadly, we will always have a radical cohort of parents who want to limit sex ed.
12:58– Glad you cited to such middle of the road organizations and publications as "lifesitenews" and "Christianpost". I can see that you have an open mind.
OK how about this: "More than 93 percent of parents place high importance on sex education in both middle and high school. Sex education in middle and high school is widely supported by parents regardless of their political affiliation. Using data from a large diverse sample of 1,633 parents of children aged 9 to 21 years, we examined whether views on sex education differed by parents’ political affiliation. More than 89 percent of parents that identified as Republicans or Democrats support including a wide range of topics in sex education including puberty, healthy relationships, abstinence, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and birth control in high school. In middle school, 78 percent or more of both parents that identified as Republicans and Democrats support the inclusion of those topics. Controlling for key demographic factors, parents that identified as Democrats are more likely than those that identified as Republicans to support the inclusion of the topics of healthy relationships, birth control, STDs, and sexual orientation in both middle and high school. However, a strong majority of Republican parents want all these topics included in sex education. Sex education which includes a broad set of topics represents an area of strong agreement between parents of both political parties." https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0180250
I mean I am not going to lie– I just Googled for somethings that did not appear to have an agenda and that seemed to have some peer-reviewed research behind it. You know…social and hard science.
I am a Republican and can tell you that I would prefer to be the one to teach my kids about sex (and I do) but I would also like to teach them about science and math and reading and history (and I do). But my time and resources and skills are limited. I am not afraid of the school teaching (or not teaching) my kids sexual health but I am scared to death about the school not teaching your kids about sexual health.
Sure but where do we draw the line? Have to opt into English? Have to opt into history and science? If someone wants to tell their kids until age 18 that babies come from storks, there never was slavery or that they can spell however they want, then homeschool your kids.
4:11 I am not 9:47 but their point not irrelevant. The question that 9:47 raised is a good one. If we make parents opt in for sex and health education, what other subjects should we allow them to opt in? What is it about health education that makes it "opt in" but history or civics/consumerism mandatory? The controversial nature of topics? The implication that there are values imbued in how it is taught? The point 9:47 was making that you did not substantively address is what makes sex education so taboo that we would need an opt-in unlike other subjects?
8:36 – the big deal is that making opt-out the default option will mean that sex ed gets taught to all of those kids whose parents don't care enough to opt-out, or whose parents are only vaguely aware that they are parents. We are all better off if sex ed is taught as the default.
The parents who care enough to take action to opt-out? They and their kids will be fine.

Over the Hump in Pahrump the Double-Bump Trump Dump wants to make a jump.
The Christian Morris lawsuit against Nick Carter is BS. So, she's going to sue Nick Carter for something that allegedly occurred 21 years ago to which her client has zero evidence of it happening? Good luck. It's lawsuits like this that give lawyers a bad name.
I generally don't like putting people on blast here on the blog, but 11:33AM got the lyrics COMPLETELY wrong. I love Nirvana as much as the next guy, but please keep things professional and don't shoehorn rape language into BSB classics.
And 1:40 thought he/she/xer was so smart. What happens if later the associate bills more than the minimum hours, will the firm give the associate a raise? Refund the money? Not to mention this is opening the door to potential discrimination issues, among others. Sue your associates as see how it does. Make sure to report back after you do. Maybe as a partner you should earn your keep to bring in enough clients and billable work. The associates should countersue.

Are the sex ed classes going to be just that, or are they going to be indoctrination classes pushing a certain ideology?

12:42 Imagine that… parents not wanting strangers talking to their children about sex. Sounds radical. Except, you know…. not at all.

Maybe not so radical and not such a minority of parents eh?

1:00 Instead of criticizing 12:58's sources – find us some sources that YOU believe are accurate that dispute his/her sources?
I can't believe it's not already mandatory unless a parent expressly opts out.
I agree with 12:42 that sex ed is more imperative than ever, given the easy access to all the crap on the internet.
The parental option to opt-out protects the interests of those parents who object. What's the big deal?

The fear of sex and sex-ed among Americans is frightening.
1:20, or have parents opt in. What's the big deal?
Sure but where do we draw the line? Have to opt into English? Have to opt into history and science? If someone wants to tell their kids until age 18 that babies come from storks, there never was slavery or that they can spell however they want, then homeschool your kids.
9:47, ah, making a completely irrelevant comparison to try to make your point. Good job.

I think the law makes certain subjects mandatory. Not sure why a parent would need to opt in to those subjects.

This seems like a good move!
This will just encourage fraudulent billing. Then again, that's how one makes partner, amirite?
How am I as a partner going to be able to change your associate time to be my time if you aren't entering it? Its science
Another good point. Ha!
