The HOA scandal simply refuses to stay out of the news. This week, it features two stories on giving back. First, according to the RJ, Victoria Villegas, a prosecutor who was fired by current DA Steve Wolfson for some allegations related to the scandal, will be getting her job back after a favorable arbitration ruling. Second, the Vistana HOA, one of the HOAs affected by the scandal, will be getting back $356,000 recovered by the FBI.
What else is going on out there?
I've always wondered what it must be like to go back to a job that you were forced to get back through litigation/arbitration. Isn't it awkward to work at a place after you've been fired? I'd feel like the higher-ups would just be waiting for me to screw up again to give them another reason to can my ass. If it were available, I'd much rather take a monetary award and move on.
question- Gerry Zobrist sentencing hearing scheduled for August 19th. Any speculation on sentence?
Yeah – he'll never get his pre-sentence life back.
Seriously? Speculating on sentencing? What kind of ghoul are you?
Pretty sharp guy. I am sure that he will come out of this on the other end and be ok. Besides, I thought this blog was for rumors, gossip and entertainment purposes?
Zobrist's sentence will be a bit less than the maximum, yet enough to make other miscreants think twice.
25 years and a 500k fine.

2-5 years and a 50k fine.
Every time I drive by the building where he and Barry Levinson were both tenants it just kind of blows my mind.
What must the other tenants think about the state of the legal profession in Nevada?

I'm sure Gerry is managing his Twitter page from Costa Rica.

You don't think the $1.1 million forfeiture was enough of a fine?
Comparing Zob to Levinson is hardly fair. He pled in a case that had nothing to do with his repping clients. I know for a fact that he took at least a few clients that were screwed by Levinson and finished their cases in BK Court pro bono. As I recall, he was even lauded by Reigle last year for doing so.
Can someone explain why this Zobrist thing is such a big deal?
