Is there anybody else running for AG other than Ford? He gives me the creeps.
I think the other candidate used to work with one of April Parks' attorneys so it is a rock and hard place issue for that race.
Ford sucks, wow. Slim fish gut pickings here!
Aaron Ford has vastly more education, political experience and litigation experience than the other candidates. Great choice for Nevada.
Eh-Ron Ford is a terrible candidate for AG running to replace a terrible AG.
Dave Thomas is working the legal blog again.
People who use the honorific "Doctor" to refer to a PhD in Educational Administration, rather than a doctorate in medicine, psychology, or theology, should be strung up by their ankles and whipped with wet noodles.
Dave Thomas needs to find a home for voldermort. His candidates need voldemort's help bad.
Theology? Really? Those are the biggest fraud "dr's" on the face of the planet. You can get that phd online.
Theology was one of the Ph.Ds that President Jed Bartlett mentioned as being potentially legitimate.
@11:57 – J.D.s are doctorates, we should all start calling ourselves Dr. to show support for other DBs that do the same with a Ph.D. or other Doctorate. I'm of the mind that if one cannot prescribe medication, one should not be called a doctor.
You know what I find amusing/sad? People who sign letters, "Joe Blow, Esq., MBA." MBA is not a title, you fools. (And yes, I have one, but I'm not throwing it in people's faces.)
Maybe I should start signing my letters as "John Smith, HS Grad, BA, MBA, JD, Esq." Will that help me represent my clients better? Or get better clients?
If you're aiming for peak pretentiousness, you also need to go by first initial, middle name, last name. E.g., "J. Douglas Smith, GED, BA, MBA, JD, Esq." Only then will people know you have an air of distinction about you.
C'mon 3:32. J. Randall Jones doesn't do it for pretentiousness. He does it because he goes by his middle name. Lighten up.
Well, if you did pretty well on the 200 question multiple-guess MBE when you took the bar exam, you could advertise to the unwitting that you are a "bar exam expert", like one PI lawyer who will (and should) go nameless.
4:29: Humor (and sarcasm?) are apparently dead.
Wes Duncan (R) and Craig Mueller (not sure) so far. Formal filing starts in about two weeks, so start saving those filing fees quarters now!
Mueller is a Bob Beers (R). He really likes female judges btw, just ask him and then listen to a half an hour diatribe, EVERY TIME.
What’s going on with Wilson Elser/Kym Cushing? Judge Crockett scheduled a three or four day hearing on an issue of spoliation and concealment of evidence, and alluded to the fact that two other judges have held similar hearings on similar issues. I’ve also heard that he recently left the firm.
Cushing no longer on the Wilson Elser web site.
Cushing wasn't the target in either of the two prior hearings. He just happened to be the person Wilson Elser forced to go attend, testify, and "fall on the sword" for actions taken by other partners. One case involved actions taken by Kevin Smith. The other prior case involved Jennifer Arledge. This new hearing is the same type of thing.
I heard he finally had enough of cleaning up other people's messes and finally left. I also heard that Wilson Elser screwed him over re last year's compensation. He's now suing Wilson Elser for discrimination and is alleging intentional tort causes of actions as well as punitive damages. He's got a high-profile employment lawyer who is going after Wilson Elser realky hard. Wilson Elser screwed him over, and now it looks like they will pay for it.
A standard contingency fee is 33-40%. I get that these kinds of cases can involve huge amounts of money, but I can’t believe that anyone would work for 10-15%. 25% is well within reason in order to get a high-quality firm on board. No, I am not Eglet.
Agreed, this is really a non-story. Free market forces (i.e. shopping around) are all the additional limits on contingency cases that are needed. Opioid case is good example. Quality of lawyer who would take a 10% cut on that is questionable, putting it mildly.
Could someone at the Clerk's office buy a clue. I have a legitimate document getting kicked back twice.
Curious, what got kicked?
Hearing requests.
No hearing for you!
I know. I am starting to take it personally.
Did my firm just receive unsolicited resumes from two different Wilson Elser associates this morning?
East coast bosses clashing with West coast culture. Biggie vs. Tupac.
Doin' a little East Coast swing, poppin' those environmental devastating, who gives a shit, because I work for a big firm so my office is on the cusp of Red Rock pics from my office. I am an enviro, word. I have a nice head band, word.
Meant to say pics from my office, word.
Do you own a duffel bag with handles?
But it has always been that way at Wilson Elser. They came in and took the Edwards Hale gang; Kym was the last remaining remnant. Mike Edwards is going to manage the office; he is gone. Kym Cushing is no longer on the website.
Mama, I'm still thugging, the world is a war zone
My homies is inmates, and most of them dead wrong
Full grown, finally a man, just scheming on ways
To put some green inside the palms of my empty hands
Just picture me rollin'
Flossing a Benz on rims that isn't stolen
My dreams is censored, my hopes are gone
I'm like a fiend that finally sees when all the dope is gone
My nerves is wrecked, heart beating and my hands are swollen
Thinking of the G's I'll be holdin', picture me rollin'
I be in my digger Dan coveralls…..I be driving the dozer….dozing over the dozed….who don't know they have been hosed…el jefe
Quick, random question: Over the past two months, I have received orders from the Nevada Court of Appeals in the regular snail-mail, even though everything else in the case was e-filed. Does this happen to anyone else, and does anyone know why it is happening? Thanks in advance.
I happened to be looking at Nevada’s recent federal appointees. Gloria Navarro, Miranda Du, Jennifer Dorsey. Did anyone think those were the best people available to be district judges? Jesus.
Navarro:(Bleep)no! She has proven to be worse than I imagined.
Miranda Du: Didn't think she was the best person but she was smart, she had a practice that was largely Federally based and was competent and professional.
Dorsey: Actually Jenny was exactly what Reid wanted. Young, intelligent and a strong writer. She was a very strong candidate. If her politics were the opposite, she is exactly the type of nominee that Trump would be seeking.
I notice you only referenced the female applicants; Boulware and Gordon are mysteriously missing from your list. Seems slightly (extremely) sexist.
I think Dorsey and Gordon have both been great. Navarro is slow but not bad. Not much experience with Du.
Better than Cadish. You will lose the election.
Du is slow, too. Gordon is excellent.
