If you consider Alverson Taylor big, it has to be among the worst.
LBBS is pretty big for Vegas standards and I hear it is not great
Nothing on Judge Dawson? I'm not normally in federal court. Is it usual for the DOJ to ask the judge for more time to investigate whether he went easy on a defendant because of personal connections, or is that kind of a slap in the face to the judge? It seems like you'd be careful making that kind of request out of fear of reprisals if you're going to be in front of the judge all the time.
It is DOJ out of DC, they don't care.
BLOG IS DEAD.
Is there a Justice Court Civil Bench Bar tomorrow? Or have they just stopped having them because they don't want all of the attorneys to come in and bitch about how Justice Court is taking five to seven days to process e-filings?
Or how the Summary Evictions have been a joke because the Clerk's Office has not been timely filing Tenant Answers because it misunderstood the statute……
Or how the Justice Court requires parties to electronically file their documents but Justice Court's e-file system does not have all of the document codes in its system so that parties can e-file their documents.
Honestly in the Battle Royale of District v. Justice Court Clerks, whatever you think of District Court, Justice Court of Las Vegas Township is just a travesty.
Hey, 4:47, what's happening with the Tenant Answers? Are the clerks actually refusing to file them? On what basis?
And yes, 5:17, the Justice Court Clerks make every other department look like an oasis of competence. No wonder they're splitting up with District Court.
@8:50…… Here is the controversy. Yes Justice Court clerks are refusing to file Tenant Answers in summary eviction cases where they deem the Answers to be filed more than 5 days after the date on the 5 Day Notice. Of course the statute says that tenants have 5 days from the date of SERVICE (not the date that the 5 Day Notice is signed). It has now happened to 3 of my clients. People are being denied the chance to even timely ANSWER and are then being locked out without any due process.
Clerks– your job is stamp the document, just stamp the document and leave the lawyering and legal determination to legal professionals.
Isn't there a regular meeting of the Justice Court judges where these issues could be raised?
Canceled until the fall. Probably because they knew exactly what everybody would come in and complain about and they don't want to hear it.
