TTHHWWWAAACCKK!!! and FIRST!!! 'MERICA!!!
Do it! We need another pro team here. MLB would be amazing. Build it and they will come.
NBA is a much better fit for Las Vegas than MLB. 81 home games a year. The location would be a pain in the ass to park and access. The franchise is, at its best, mediocre. Most baseball fans in Las Vegas already have strong allegiance to another team (most often the Dodgers, Angels or Padres). I can't see myself bothering to go to an A's game on the Strip unless they are playing my team (which is in the NL).
100% agree with 9:13. NBA team would definitely generate more interest IMO. There was speculation the Suns would come here. Doubtful they still would now that they're actually good.
If Vegas gets a team, 90% chance it's through expansion with Seattle, not team movement. Sacramento and Milwaukee both looked like potential movers but they got money for new arenas.
Who watches baseball?
IDC. Bring us a team and build them an amazing facility. Make it happen. MLB games might really surprise you in terms of popularity.
From the truly WTH category: Reba McIntyre is set to star in the movie "The Hammer" about Judge Kim Wanker, real life judge of Nye County. https://deadline.com/2022/06/reba-mcentire-star-reba-alum-melissa-peterman-lifetime-movie-the-hammer-1235055006/
No (non)sense
Holy Hell! Nevada Lawyer this month (July 2022) contains a Public Reprimand of Judge Nadine Cutter for ignoring her client (Yer Vang) for 2 years and ultimately the case was dismissed for failure to prosecute and serve the defendants. (A-19-799585-C). Reprimand seems really light on the facts in the case. The Reprimand states that her clients ultimately collected money; sure once Nettles stepped in and fixed all of her malpractice.
https://nvbar.org/wp-content/uploads/NevadaLawyer_July2022_Bar-Counsel-Report.pdf
While in the course of trying to go look up that Yer Vang case that she got reprimanded for, there is another case that she just got sued because she settled her clients' personal injury matter in 2019 and still has never paid them their money as of 2022 (even though she has been on the bench for 18 months). Odyssey claims that she entered an appearance on behalf of herself in that case (fine) and as counsel for her law firm even though she is a sitting judge. (A-22-852463-C). I cannot believe that a sitting District Court judge can be filing pleadings in District Court has counsel for a corporation.
This seems really bad. Is she really bad?
A typical representation of the judges In the state. Stop retaining them.
I looked up that Vang case. She was still on the pleadings being filed as counsel of record well into 2021 while she was on the bench. Isnt there a Judicial Canon or something that states that you cannot appear as counsel of record or file pleadings as counsel while you are a judge? This seems really basic but maybe I am missing something.
Ask Paul Dehyle, there are no judicial canons in this state
When I started practicing 40 years ago, there was a short list of "get it in writing" opposing counsel. That list is now pretty long. Nadine is on my "get it in writing and even then don't believe it" list.
That's the problem with having public elections for judges, the general public isn't aware of a judicial candidates legal competence.
She was previously reprimanded. Her competence (or lack thereof) was a matter of public record before the election. Part of the problem was that her opponent is pretty reviled and Vegas voters are inclined to vote for women. Now we're stuck with her in family court. It's ridiculous.
Craig Mueller blew both the Kevin Child's and Bundy appeals by failing to file an opening brief after receiving plenty of notice. Why hasn't the Bar gone after him?
Nevada Supreme Court granted me a 90 day continuance after having a stroke.
I am not certain that we are stuck with her. Paul Dehyle likes to go after 1 case every 2 years or so. This is a pretty easy one since the State Bar already started to do the legwork for him. The Vang one looks like Nettles Morris cleaned it up for her and did not involve (much) conduct from the bench. The new case looks like it involves continued conduct from the bench and could be much more problematic.
Aside and off topic – I was just watching some old speechs and debates of Ronald Reagan (just surfing the rabbit hole of the internet and mixing metaphors) and wow was he a great speaker – disregarding politics – Biden, Trump, whatever dude you’re on, no one talks like that anymore
Speaking only about public speaking abilities (avoiding politics), Reagan's only peer in the last 50 years is Obama. Their styles are very different, but they are peers. Two greatest public speakers of my lifetime, for sure. At some point, we will see another person like that. It seems like they show up every generation or so, maybe a bit longer.
Preach. Watching Reagan and Obama then having to sit through Trump and Biden shows just how close we are to idiocracy.
2:15 PM here. People often conclude that Bush II, Trump and Biden are not intelligent because they are not articulate. Putting morality aside, all three men have intelligence that exceeds what their public presentation suggests. All three are exceptionally intelligent. But they are the diametric opposite of Reagan and Obama in terms of public presentation.
Op back – going wayyyy on a tangent poster mentioned idiocracy – I saw that movie I thought was very funny
@2:38, I think you're 67% correct. See, "Person, man, woman, tv, camera"
2:38 PM here. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who thinks Trump is more loathsome and reprehensible than I. But the guy is wicked smart. Recognizing that is just a part of living in reality. It isn't a concession that he is a good or decent person, that he is well read, or that he should hold public office. But let's be real, the guy is extremely sharp.
"surfing the rabbit hole" reminds me of goatse. have you gone down that hole?
Whatever your political views are, it's laughable to argue Trump isn't smart.
Now when I say smart, I mean business/strategy intelligence.
He's not the guy that you sit down and talk about classic literature with, but he undoubtedly knows what he's doing when it comes to branding, controlling the news cycle, etc.
Let's not forget, he ran through the entire Republican establishment to win the nomination in 2016
Having the ability to manipulate the news cycle is not indicative of intelligence. It's more indicative of a raging egomaniac and a corporate news machine that thrives on clicks and sound bites instead of actual news and public interest. He fooled the generally ignorant american voters and had particular appeal to the uneducated right that spent 8 years seething mad that we had a black president. Also, if you think he has good business sense, I'm sure he has a condo deal you could invest in. If he had just parked his inheritance in the stock market when his daddy died, he'd have more money than he did when he ran for president. He has failed at one venture after another and has used and manipulated the bankruptcy code and real estate tax structure to hide his losses.

Anyone hear that Ranalli's office got lit up for $4M on a 50k policy case? Ouch!
Ramsey Ladah taught them a lesson. Chris Ehlse thinks he is some great trial lawyer, so it makes it even funnier.
I do Plaintiff's work but see this term that an ID firm got "lit up" when often ID firms are trying cases that they do not want to try but some knucklehead adjuster wants to try. I take that "lit up" thing with a grain of salt.
Ranalli gets cases that in house counsel and panel counsel foul up. Ranalli's office can't work magic on every case and bring it in at or near the policy. Good for Ramsey Ladah who gets good results/settlements. Generally plaintiff's firms that try cases will push their good slam dunk cases and make unreasonable demands. They set the carriers up for "bad faith" when there is not enough insurance.
Ranalli gets some cases in house messes up. Plaintiff offered to settle for significantly less than 7 figures when the case was with Ranalli. Ultimately we know the carrier makes the decisions, so I can’t blame counsel.

Oh,good. Ninth Circuit continues to discriminate against minorities I miss Sidney White.
Reno newspaper says Doug Crawford temporarily suspended Friday, granted OBC's motion and rejected his request for only disability inactive status.
Thank you,Baucum, for trying to do something about him. Out of state media only truly covers the awful judiciary in this state.
Disability inactive status ???
He's a sex addict. He needs Lawyers Concerning Lawyers. Where's Kristine Kuzemka?
Question: if a lawyer in your firm is snorting cocaine during business hours or in his office do you have a duty to report him to the Bar?
We had an attorney who offered Adderall and cocaine to employees.
You have a duty to tell him to meet me at Little Darlings at 8:00 tonight
Pimp Shark,that you,?
Alexis Plunkett could sponsor Doug Crawford in his LCL meetings.

You laugh about "disability inactive" but ask Matt Callister how that works with discipline pending against you. OBC has used it as a shortcut to avoid having to do discipline.
