Cigarette butts are a major pollution problem. I hate litter. Saw a guy non-nonchalantly toss his gum wrapper outside court the other day. I said, seriously, you couldn't throw that away? He acted like he wanted to fight at the flag pole or something. there is no excuse for it. Fine them all.

I agree. I can't stand it when people toss a butt out their window, especially when they have a friggin' ashtray in their car. Like, this little butt of mine, I'm gonna let it shine. I hope they all die a painful death of lung cancer, the selfish pricks. For the love of Dieu, stop smoking!

The bail for littering is $1,140, not the fine. If he had set the matter for court, he would have received a reduced fine. But he chose to pay the full amount online instead. Now he's complaining. Dummy!

And we live in one of the last cities in the civilized world that allows some forms of indoor smoking. What does that say about us?

Actually I think the laws regarding smoking are just about where they need to be right now. The vast majority of indoor spaces that aren't private homes are non-smoking, and bars can go either way based on customer preference and what the owner wants to do. Thinking about the watering holes that are closest to home, three permit smoking and two do not. That's fine with me. Let adults make an informed choice. When I started practicing law, people smoked at their desks. We've come a long way baby (let me know if you're old enough to get that reference), but I don't think we should mandate no smoking in bars. It was a disaster when tried several years ago.

Gross. Sadly, we live in a time when some won't let shame or decency get in the way of self-promotion.

There is a strange irony to the fact that Simpson is so closely intertwined with the Kardashians. They also will not allow "shame or decency get in the way of self-promotion."

It says something very bad about our society that we allow these garish moronic beasts to become celebrities.

Got a Notice of Hearing this morning listing "Steven Grierson, CEO/Clerk of the Court." CEO? Why does the Court need a CEO? Is there some reason that Clerk of the Court was not a big enough title?

"CEO" with regards to the Court stands for "Court Executive Officer".

No, but the court clerks' egos apparently need some "executive" stroking.

Grierson was picked because he does whatever the chief Judge says – and they couldn't fire the previously elected County Clerk. Management at the Clerk's office is terrible – they don't know their ass from their elbow and treat their employees horribly.

Grierson is a CEO alright. We should all know the true story as to why he is in his position. Maybe Herndon or Togliatti can enlighten us.

Heard it was Hardcastle that appointed Grierson – whose background is in marriage and family therapy. He has no idea how to run in anything but circles. He doesn't care as long as he is pulling down his judge's salary.

DOWN WITH THE HOV LANES! Such a dumb implementation for this city. We need to be able to make the person responsibility for these types of decisions an elected official so we have a face to tell off and kick out. Definitely not a decision to benefit Las Vegans.

I liked the idea of the "Express Lanes". However, they stopped enforcing them after like a week, and 90% of the drivers just treated them like additional lanes to weave in and out of. I never heard why they did that, but I wish they didn't.

The cops didn't stop enforcing them, just provided a 30 day grace period where they would provide a warning. City of LV decided they would bump it down to an parking ticking with minimal fine. Expect NHP to issue HOV violation tickets for Clark County Justice Court instead, especially since they are going to be paid to heavily enforce the HOV lanes soon.

HOV lanes…a present from our new California turned Nevada residents. Last week it was fun watching a Californian ride is car in the bus lane all the way down Sahara.

10:48 here. I was actually talking about the previous version, the "express lanes" which were supposed to be separate from the main lanes between Sahara and Sunset or so. I preferred that idea to HOV, especially because it actually applied to me when going to court.

More interesting than ego is pay. Grierson in 2018 was paid $170,515 in regular pay, an additional $33,008 in "Other pay". With benefits a total compensation of… (are you ready for this?) #272,077.

Q. So what does a Court Executive Officer really do that a competent MBA would do for $100k?
