No doubt Ochoa is quite flawed, but he is far from terrible. At least he treats everyone well and does not embarrass attorneys in front of their clients. And that's huge.

I recognize that he is no intellectual giant(to put it kindly) and that his work ethic leaves something to be desired(to put that mildly as well), and that with better competition presented perhaps a challenger could and should be supported.

But of the three of them, it might be wise to stick with Ochoa.

Wow! Not a lot of information here as a whole and the only information on a candidate is that he is flawed and has a poor work ethic. Need more opinions please!

Ochoa is flawed and is terrible. There were more comments on this page but not certain where they went. However the single poster nails it: Ochoa is bad but better than who is running against him (sadly).

What is wrong with Regina McConnell? I see she has the support of both the RJ and Nevada Republican Club. What are the negatives of McConnell or Szyc?

This is what the RJ says:
"Incumbent Judge Vincent Ochoa faces challenges from Regina McConnell and Lisa Szye in Department S. Judge Ochoa has been on the bench for a decade, but received mediocre marks from attorneys over the years in the Review-Journal’s judicial surveys, including a 52 percent retention rating in 2019. Nearly half the respondents last year disagreed that the judge was “familiar with the case record and documents.” That’s a problem. Ms. McConnell has practiced law since 2003, focusing on family matters for the past 13 years. She vows to speed up the process for litigants struggling with the emotional Family Court process. We recommend Regina McConnell."

I have to agree with them that 52% retention rating is a problem for me.

So that leads to an Anti-Ochoa sentiment. But the best you can say for McConnell is that she practices family law? There are lots of practitioners who do not deserve to be on the Bench.

I find myself weighing in on two of them. On one hand I have Ochoa who I know is not effectively doing his job and I have McConnell who has effectively been doing her job practicing family law but is an unknown on the bench. If he continues it stands to logic that he will continue to not do his job effectively. If McConnell gets a chance it is possible she will not do the job effectively but it is also possible she might actually do the job better. I'm struggling with the opinion I saw here that "Well he is crappy but the best choice". My question is why? Why is someone doing a poor job the best choice?

Seeing the Republicans endorse McConnell makes me lean toward Szyc, but I want more info on her.
