With ballots set to start arriving in mailboxes next week, it’s time to talk about the contested judicial races featured on that ballot. We welcome your comments on the qualifications of the candidates as well as any information you can offer to help voters make an educated decision. Just remember to keep your comments appropriate and try to avoid defamation.
For District Court Judge, Department 31, the candidates are:
- Call, Gary W.
- Kishner, Joanna S.
I wish there was a serious candidate running against Kishner because she has serious Robe-itis (which I never foresaw before she took the bench). However there is not a serious challenger and thus it has to be Kishner.
No it doesn't. You don't have to reward her with another term just because you think the challenger isn't serious. Kishner is out of control on the bench. The power has gone to her head and, in my opinion, has compromised her efficacy as a jurist. She would be better suited on a court of appeals or something where she doesn't have to interact with people as much.
Really good judge, and does a great deal for the court and community outside of her official docket.
9:03 is not necessarily wrong about the fact that humility may not be in the Top 3 list of the Judge's finest attributes, but often that is the price we pay. If we want solid judges and solid public officials, who have the smarts and confidence to get things done, such people are rarely shrinking violets. If they seem a bit full of themselves at times, I can handle that as long as they can deliver the goods.
I,for one, think that Judge K delivers the goods. Easily one of the 5 or 6 best. Solid COA or NSC material, if she ever has an interest.
She's very bright, and I think her rulings are on target most of the time. Unfortunately there is no vaccine against Robe-itis, and she has a bad case of it. For that reason I might have considered voting for another candidate of similar intellect, but there is no such candidate in this race. So Kishner it is.
I like Gary.
I don't know him, but he has my vote.
The Kish is still on the bench?
Sad to say, yes.
